Assuming you are talking about someone who has overstayed their visa for some time within the UK, getting married will not guarantee a successful outcome with a visa application to enter the UK.

As the other post suggest they will not give out a visa and the right to live and work in a country when you have clearly overstayed in the recent past.

An illegal entrant cannot validly marry because if the Immigration Officials knew of his/her existence in UK, he/she might be deported to the country of origin.
