As an elderly woman who cannot afford the sky-rocketing costs of prescription medication, this is something which eases the aches and pains of old age, and I can grow it at practically no cost to me.
Why would the government do an old lady this way?

I was just wondering how many soldiers or military families claim a home residency that is really not their own, simply so they don't have to pay state taxes.
I know a lot of military families (including my family) who claim the state of Texas, so we don't have to pay state taxes. We got tired of paying hundred of dollars into our home state and not get any refund... and we rarely go home.

Just wondering....

I read my Marine handbook, and it says during the Delayed Entry Program, I can refer 2 people to the Marines and I will be able to get promoted to private first class, which also means I can get paid what the first class rank gets paid. Does that really mean I can start getting paid before I go into recruit training?

George Washington states, “It will be more consistent with those circumstances, and far more congenial with the feelings which actuate me, to substitute, in place of a recommendation of particular measures, the tribute that is due to the talents, the rectitude, and the patriotism which adorn the characters selected to devise and adopt them. In these honorable qualifications I behold the surest pledges that as on one side no local prejudices or attachments, no separate views nor party animosities, will misdirect the comprehensive and equal eye which ought to watch over this great assemblage of communities and interests, so, on another, that the foundation of our national policy will be laid in the pure and immutable principles of private morality, and the preeminence of free government be exemplified by all the attributes which can win the affections of its citizens and command the respect of the world.”

For the last 100 years or so, a prerequisite for being conservative was a healthy distrust of the government. I was raised to not put much faith in the government, and never really trusted them myself. Nor did all of the conservatives i ever knew. Yet in this day and age, conservatives are ones that actually trust the government. They trust the feds with their private medical records. They trust the feds enough to stand by and all the deniel of Habeas Corpus to American Citizens. They trust the government enough to allow the FBI to conduct "sneek and peek" searches of homes without a warrant, or homeowner consent. They trust the government enough to allow them to listen in on their phone conversations. Now i have nothing to hide, and was a raised a staunch conservative. But i do NOT trust the government, and i feel that liberty trumps security in ALL cases. Are there any other conservatives out there that want to step up be a good American?

When someone is on the cell phone WHILE driving, they have slower Rections than someone with a .12 Drinking problem.
So lets get a law for Those who are behind the wheel driving while on the Dreaded Cell phones in hand!
If you talk then pull over to do it.
And all the Speed Ticket laws need to be uped on the fines, 2 years on your record, and double the current fines, please. What does my Fellow Peace and police officers and patrol feel about this.
i'm tired of the dam Weaving all over cell phone Drivers cutting me off.
Soon i will buy a beat up pick up truck and correct their Swayings from lane to lane. As an protective American trying to keep my family safe on the road, when they cut me off the road.

"U.S. troops and other foreign forces operate in Iraq under a U.N. Security Council mandate, which has been renewed annually since 2003."

I've never heard of this. Our troops are there under a Security Council mandate? The UN supports "illegal" occupation? Libs, help me out here.

In order not to confuse our current domestic monetary crisis with the economic woes of George Bush I's presidency, I hereby decree that George W. Bush's recession ought to be termed:

"The Wecession"

It has a nice Elmer Fudd ring to it and denotes, W's accolades with all things economic.

I have a house I sold in GA. There was a small amount I received as seller's proceeds. The laywer who performed the closing sent me the check which I deposited in the ATM Friday night. This morning I receive an email (not even a call or proper grammar email) from the closing lawyer informing me that he stopped payment on the check, "DO NOT DEPOSIT" because the mortgage compnay did not include a prepayment fee in the payoff. My bank can't do anything until it is returned stop payment, then I get a $32 fee. Is this right? The closing documents all state I should have gotten the full amount, now he is changing it. Is there anything I can do, or am I screwed?

I read somewhere that Hillary wants to have it mandated that every American has to have health care and that Obama says she is not considering all those who can't afford any kind of health care at all. But isn't Medicade and Medicare still available for those who can"t afford healthcare? I also read somewherre that Hillary also wants to force both insurance companies and pharmacies to cut costs to make health care more affordable and also is trying to make it mandated that insurance companies are unable to turn anyone away regardless of pre existing health issues or age. If this is all true, then what is so wrong with what she wants to do? How would this be bad for the American people? And just what is Obama presenting that is supposed to be better than this?
