As an elderly woman who cannot afford the sky-rocketing costs of prescription medication, this is something which eases the aches and pains of old age, and I can grow it at practically no cost to me.
Why would the government do an old lady this way?

Well, if it is used for medical purposes it should be regulated as a medicine. This means that the proponents for the stuff have to provide scientific evidence that demonstrates that the stuff is 'safe and effective' for treatment of medical conditions.

Personally, I take the fact that the proponents cannot demonstrate that it is 'safe and effective' as evidence that it should remain illegal.

Move to California. It is legal in the state, but still illegal according to Federal guidelines.

Almost any doctor in California will write you a prescription for it (if not go doctor shopping until you find one).

Then you can grow it legally to the extent that the local police and sheriff will leave you alone.

If you keep your garden small and don't sell it, the feds will stay out of your business.

Unfortunately our government is ran by big corporations and one of those happens to be drug companies. Certain politicians have received money, gifts and drugs from various drug companies, that way they can continue to raise the cost of prescription drugs. In the U.S obviously it's about profit and not about the well being of our fellow men. Move to Alaska or any of the 13 other states who legalized medical marijuana. That is probably your best bet because in those states they have less strict laws and allow their patients to grow their own.

It is illegal based on the laws currently on the books in the United States. It is not a personal thing against you or against elderly people. It is just how the laws are written.

states have passed laws making medicinal use legal. the problem is feds have made a point of going after these people to establish case law stating they have the power to regulate marijuana use under the commerce and supremacy clause of the us constitution. the may be because they are afraid of losing any control of prosecuting the illicit drug trade.

There's this creepy old dude down the street who grows it in some shed in his backyard. Oh, but I'm in Canada so it might be different here than in the United States.

becasue the governmenet has no way of knowing why you are growing it. i mean if they let you grow it then they would have to let everyone grow it and that could cause a lot of problems... it cant be legal for some people to do something that is illegal for everyone else to do. if its illegal its illegal no exceptions.

I say, if it is for personal and not for resale, ignore the gov. then problem is the family of three in california who doctors said needed it. they were allowed to grow for personal use BUT< when the cops caught up with them, they had about 1 acre of high grade reefer.if you truly feel that it would help and you are not supporting drug dealers, grow for it.( i crack me up)
