"Left-wing mainline Protestants are joining Muslims in a political fast aimed at getting the United States to 'end the war' in Iraq, an objective that no U.S. action could quickly accomplish."

Members saying they represented Muslim, Jewish, Roman Catholic, Unitarian and Baptist "traditions" were on hand. They used the ram's horn, or Jewish shofar, to sound a "wake up" call to the nation. They also placed ashes on their foreheads as a sign of repentance, and a bell was tolled to announce the fast, from dawn to sunset on Oct. 8. Plans are for a Muslim "iftar" meal that evening.

I dont think many conservatives and those that call themselves liberal even know what the definition of liberal is. To many its a curse word. I think THESE people we call Liberals are not Liberal at all. They are something different. They believe in unfettered abortion, THIS IS NOT a liberal attribute. They want gun control. This is also NOT a liberal attribute. They want big government and tax hikes. This is definately NOT a liberal attribute. So what gives?

It seems to me that the biggest thorn in a conservative's side is the thought of paying taxes...period. If all the services that the government provides were privatized, would you be willing to pay the price? Government is expensive, this is true, but they do not set out to make a 'profit' such as private business does. How long would it take before you could not afford the services that we too often take for granted?

I heard of this in Mountain Home, Idaho and Knoxville, TN. Doesn't this send a message to criminals that it is OK to rob someone at home? The homeowner in Idaho was in a wheelchair, and the home invader got off scott free.

Moveon.org, and other on the extreme left, have apparently captured the democratic party. At least according to many of those on the right.
The religious right, and people like Hannity and Limbaugh control the republicans. At least according to many of those on the left.
Are the two statements above true or false?
If not why are they not true?
Also, is the "gap" between these two extremes large enough that a third party, or 3rd party candidate, could get elected?

I'm more sickened by people who want to burn the flag and sorta hold my nose metaphorically when I say I want to defend their first amendment right to do so,

kinda one of those i disagree with what you are saying but defend your right to say it kind of thing.

He pointed towards them, I'm sure some of you will recall that moment, and said, "These are the moral equivalent of America's founding fathers". These were the Afghan Mujahiddin. They were at the time, guns in hand, battling the Evil Empire. They were the moral equivalent of our founding fathers!
