how is the 12 months exactly measured?? (days, weeks??)

It is measured in days.

You can stay in the UK for up to two years from the date you were first given permission to enter as a working holidaymaker. Also any time you spend outside the UK during that period will be counted as part of the two years.

WHM visa lasts for 2 yrs. It lasts until the validity date on the visa passes - two years from the start date of the visa. Time spent out of the UK is not given back.

The 12 month period of permitted work is calculated on the basis of the total period spent in employment (including weekends and leave of absence, e.g. sick leave, annual leave and public holidays that occur during that period of employment), not on the basis of the actual number of days worked.
