When a person points out a mistake of GWB, Bill Clinton's name is brought up in the process. I often see "Well Clinton did that" or "what about Clinton" in response to a question about GWB. News flash, Bill Clinton hasn't been president for 7 years. Can someone please give me a reasonable explanation of why Clinton is used as a scapegoat for GWB? Thanks!

When he himself has created the largest deficit in history. Bush has had the largest govermnet spending bill in history.
Bush has passed through more programs using government money than any president in history. And NOW he wants to veto a spending plan? Is it because its a democratic spending plan, or is it because hes entering his final year, and wants people to remember him as fiscally conservative. Does he even have a right, as the biggest spender in HISTORY to veto something that is aiding our country, and aiding the people whos numbers have swelled since his presidency, Veterans?

Does having an open mind mean agreeing with everything, thus disagreeing on an issue makes you close-minded? Or does it depend on the topic? If so, what makes one topic more important than the other?

(I'm not trying to start argument or debate - just a question).

The newspaper this morning says that the Democrats want to tax cigarettes in order to make health insurance available to all children. Isn't obesity a growing problem among our children? Couldn't we get children the health care they need, and at the same time reduce their risk for health problems by taxing the foods that are making them fat and unhealthy? Instead of bringing the tax on cigarettes to $1, why don't we bring the tax on Happy Meals up to a $1? I don't think parents would be so eager to stop at McDonald's or Wendy's instead of cooking if it costed more.
The statistics show that most people who smoke live in poverty. Raising the price of cigarettes is not going to deter these people from smoking. All it will do is take money from their children to continue to support their habit. Actually, I think we should tax fast-food and spend that money on stuff to actually help smokers quit - stuff other than hotlines.
All debating is welcome!!

My ex owes over 18 grand in child support, once the first witholding went through he quit his job and has worked since but not given me any money since 2005. which is a court order to pay 700 a month. I was working when this order went into effect.

I voluntarily quit in 2006, because I got married and he is the one that makes the money and supports me and his step kids.

The court will just put my income level as me working 40 hours a week at what i was making or part time right? He can't make me work since the kids are taken care of. Besides my ex owes the child support not me. Right?

The Japanese were real active and were interested in almost taking over the world. They were f-ing with the Philippines, Chinese, Koreans, everybody. They stopped where we dropped two atomic bombs on their country killing most of the people in those areas and giving the rest a life of cancer and health problems. Afterwards they calmed down.

Liberals have no regards for spending, they believe they can feel their way out of problems whereas conservatives empower people to be great. Liberals also preach at the alter of government. They want higher taxes for people who pay 50% of them already. These people want to control your life and think they always know what is best for you. I mean look at their heroes, Bill Clinton, LBJ, and FDR. No one says I want my presidency to model jimmy carter's. Liberals are weak on defense, they embolden the enemy and strip people of freedom.

says, conservative households gave 30 percent more money to charity

"It's down the line," he says. "Religious people are 21 percent more
likely to volunteer in explicitly secular causes. They're even twice
as likely to donate blood."

I have an ethical essay im writing and I need some opinions from my peers and any other insight you all might have. I'm strongly against abortion, so i need arguments from the other side as well if possible. Thanks!

A significant # of people feel that its morally acceptable to allow abortion of an embryo in comparison to a fetus, is there any moral ground for this statement?

In terms of personhood, @ what point does the embryo gain enough moral standing to override autonomy rights of the mother? Include why you choose some traits over others (e.g. awarenesss over movement, etc.)

A significant # of people feel that the strong moral status of the embryo begins at fertilization, based on its potential or anticipated personhood. Discuss whether you agree with this statement , and whether potential personhood is enough to override autonomy rights of people with undisputed personhood like the mother.
