Many of you are going to read this and call me stupid but here it is. My ex boy friend thought that I was cheating on him (which he came to find out later that I didn't) that was after he came to my house destroyed over 5 thousand dollars worth of things. Including my 50 inch big screen. Then proceeded to slap me. I filed a police report but didn't follow up on it, because like some people ( people I use to call stupid) I blamed myself. I no longer feel that way, I think he should have to pay financially and criminally for what he did. Since its been so long do you think I could get compensation for the damages? I have a witness who saw him hit me and break all those things. I just dont know if its too late.

Here's the scenario. Sen. Clinton vs. the two most likely to be nominated by the Repubs - Fred Thompson or Giuliani.

Even among the Democrats who do not care for Sen. Clinton, do you think they'll vote instead for Thompson, who is a far right winger, or Giuliani, who says we need more troops in Iraq? She will likely be paired with Obama, Biden or Richardson.

I think when all is said and done, that Democrats, and many Independents, will vote for any Democratic candidate over any Republican in '08. Sen. Clinton's nomination would mobilize the Republicans though, more than any other candidate, simply because they hate the Clintons. But it will also mobilize those who desperately want to see a regime change in '08. Thoughts? The less bashing the better. Insults are a waste of time for all of us, thoughtful analytic answers are what I'm looking for - thank you.

(Firstly.. this is a neutral q.. only interested in the practicalities.. I'm not interested in the moral reasons why Kosovo is Serbia..or why it should be independent)

Here are some possiblities that I can think of..

INDENPENDENT--
A quick independence.. might be the best solution because everybody will know where they stand..and can get on with building a future coexistence.. And this should be the final border change and finally be able to draw a line

On the otherhand.. It could make the reason less stable..because it will encourage independence movements , ie over the border in Macedonia.. There is greater Albanianism..And what about Presevo.
Bosnia could become less stable because Republika Srpska would argue that it should be independent..
And a what about Kosovo Serbs who are a large minority

Yes I know that most of us Americans had family who immagrated to america, But our families came here, learned the language and got jobs. Never had taxpayers support them. We are the ones that have the right to be here. Either do it right or leave. You are bringing this country down. You have your own they can support you. If they cant get off your lazy A** and get a job.

And why do people continue to believe things that have been disproven?

I've asked this in the Environment section and haven't gotten a good answer, except that people will believe what they want to believe.

For example, that volcanoes cause global warming when in reality they contribute 1% the greenhouse gases of humans and actually cause global cooling. Or that the sun is responsible for global warming when the only other planets warming are parts of Mars (due to dust storms darkening the surface, and other parts of Mars are cooling!) and Pluto. If it were due to the sun, every planet would be warming inversely proportionate to their distances from the sun! Or any number of myths that people have brought up here, from cow farts to soda pop causing global warming. Or that it's all a hoax perpetrated by scientists who don't even make profits.

What do you think?

What would happen in every US city if the police and army were disbanded?

Remember the civil disorder and looting in New Orleans after Katrina removed police intervention?

I have come to the conclusion that most of you who take up all your time on this issue are either racist, or enjoy finding ways of channeling your hatred towards a minority of people.

If you want to get mad about the real threat, you should be talking about the HB 1 visa debate.

Americans are losing their tech jobs, teaching jobs and nursing jobs.

Since this issue is not of interest to some of you who continually spout racist remarks, then maybe these jobs don't apply to you.

If you don't know the issues, you should be informed:

I'm from Mexican decent though both of my parents were born in the U.S. I've been here all my life. America is my home, period. I don't speak much spanish but I can understand some.

I live in TX (there are many mexican immigrants here whether they're illegal or not, I don't know). Sometimes I'll be approached and spoken to in spanish. I'll have to explain I know very little of the language. Their response to this is usually digust, as if I insulted them. I'll get *nasty* looks and bitter-sounding remarks. Usually translating to 'Why don't you speak spanish?'. With such *venom* and *ugliness*. Asking extremely personal questions about me
I've never once walked up to one of them and asked 'Why don't you speak english?'. I think that'd be very rude of me which is why I'd never ask. I think they're reaction is very rude of them. Am I wrong?

They're free to be proud of their heritage but shouldn't they try to adapt/incorporate what america is about into their lives as well?

My work colleauge is being sent horrible emails by members of her ex-husbands family. including swearing and name calling. also called her her murderer, and saying she abandoned her child.
also another person has been harassing her friend for ages, and now is sending her messages of sexual nature, but not directed at her. rather describing sexual acts regarding her friend.
she has never responded with swearing or insults, as she is a very timid, mild person.
i have sent both these ppl emails to tell them its harrassment and whatever, but they persist.
my poor colleauge is in tears and very distressed.
i searched the web for some kind of legal resource, but it only relates to workplace sexual harrassment.
i really want to nail these pricks for her sake.
what can anyone suggest?

Listening to those who are in or have been in the military one would have the tendency to believe that there were no other ways to be of service to this country than being in the military. I can't agree with that. How about you?
