Just want feedback - please no snide commentary on how I should look at FRCP 4 - I have and just want support - and please don't tell me to hire an attorney - just answer the question. Ok, when suing the US Attorney individually in a Bivens action I can either: hand the summons and Complaint to him, then serve the US by certified mail at the US attorney's office and serve the Attorney General by certified mail - right; or I can hire a process server to serve the US Attorney in accordance with local law, and copy the US and the AG on same as outlined above - or I can send by certified mail the summons and complaint to the US Attorney's designated agent and repeat the steps above, right? Just asking, thanks.

I got a parking violation for parking at a street that had the following rules: No parking from 6pm-8am nightly. 2 hour parking from 8am-6pm daily. Exempt for district 37 residents.
I parked here at 11am for 20 minutes which falls into the right time stated. There was no sign anywhere that says you CANNOT park here if you are not a district 37 resident. Exempt means to free from an obligation or liability to which others are subject, meaning they can park here anytime (if I'm correct). Through the crappy scribbles of the parking enforcer I found out that I was not supposed to park there without some sort of liscence, yet no sign stated that on the whole street. Does that exempt thing have another lawfull definition? Or should I go petition this?

P.S. All cars parked on this side of the street had a ticket except a few. Some had that district 37 pass others did not. Could this be a flaw in the laws stated and an exploit to law enforces to push money out of people?

In basic terms an insurance company has refused to pay out on a policy that should be triggered on health grounds citing that they believe that all avenues of treatment have not been explored according to their expert. My G.P. and specialist dispute this. The insurance company are refusing to pay and so I want to investigate legal proceedings on a no win no fee or legally assisted basis and would very much like to know: which type of lawyer one should approach and second, would anyone recommend a lawyer practicing in this field in the Sunderland and Newcastle locality? Thankyou very much.

Why is my pay check 450 dollars short. I have not added any allotments. And I wasn't overpaid in the toon of 450+ dollars ever? How can they just change my pay like that. I didn't get busted and also get BAH and BAS on top of my base pay. I can't see why it was deducted because on my end of month it says I was supposed to get the normal amount I get mid month. Now I see on my LES that I was supposed to get 1072 and now im 460+ short dollars short.

I hate going to finance because even if they do help me it's not going to be in enough time for me to get paid on Friday and therefore I will likely have to wait until the first this sucks.

Well I'm in 8th grade at my Catholic School. One day last week, we only had to go for like an hour. It's an 8th grade tradition at our school. You come to school for a special 8th grade prayer service the rest of the school works on, and you get the rest of the day off. So we we're done with school at like 9. Lots of us just hung out at the school's playground. At about 10:00, we realized the mall was opening, so we went over there. We walked around for a little bit and saw a cop heading to Dunkin' Donuts. But he saw us and told us to come here. He asked why we were not at school, he was not informed of the schools being out. We told him about the prayer service. He didn't buy it. So he handcuffed both of us behind out backs and took us to the school. We stayed in the car while he talked to our principal. He came back and said, we were telling the truth. I assumed he was taking us back to the mall, but we arrived at the police station. He led us to a holding cell (just big enough

Chi guy asked this question w/o sources.

http://www.divorcemag.com/statistics/statsUS2.shtml

"As researchers have noted, the areas of the country where divorce rates are highest are also frequently the areas where many evangelical Christians live.

Kentucky, Mississippi and Arkansas, for example, voted overwhelmingly for constitutional amendments to ban gay marriage. But they had three of the highest divorce rates in 2003, based on figures from the Census Bureau and the National Center for Health Statistics.

The lowest divorce rates are largely in the blue states: the Northeast and the upper Midwest. And the state with the lowest divorce rate was Massachusetts, home to John Kerry, the Kennedys and same-sex marriage.

In 2003, the rate in Massachusetts was 5.7 divorces per 1,000 married people, compared with 10.8 in Kentucky, 11.1 in Mississippi and 12.7 in Arkansas."

Never would have started a war based on lies. We'd have all our forces focused on Bin Laden and Al Queda , may have even caught him. 9/11 might not even have occurred had Gore heeded the intelligence warnings re Bin Laden. The world would still be working WITH us to combat global terrorism. We'd be well down the path to alternate fuels, greenhouse gas emissions standards, technology to reduce emissions.

What a huge goof that whole supreme court decision was...

If a lawyer signed a contract on behalf of his client, and hadn't read that contract, wouldn't that lawyer be disbarred?

Even if that lawyer had "his staff" read the contract (but the lawyer signed it), wouldn't the lawyer still be on the hook, ethically and possibly criminally?

How, then, can Congress vote for bills that bind us by law, when they haven't read the bills?

Any lawyers out there want to try a class action? Any federal prosecutors want to do their jobs?

What would you propose, to urge our rulers to follow ANY rules?

Can anyone give any personal advice about the best bases to pick??? I am looking for bases, LESS known to deploy their soldiers, close to other stores and communities, good warmer weather, newly remodeled housing, those types of things....... Please give me your advice!? Some places we have talked about, but know nothing about are, Colorado, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii.

Letter Re: Immigration Issue June 12, 2007

The American people, regardless of political affiliation, have made it quite clear they are against the immigration legislation being proposed by our Congress, and have said so in VERY CLEAR and LOUD VOICES!

Those voices are not in agreement as regards the specifics of the issues, but they all know the lengthy and inconsistent bill has not been carefully assembled and most members of both houses of Congress have not yet studied it well enough to work out the contradictions that would have to be decided by the courts.

The desire of the President and our Congress to push through an ill-conceived law will cost America dearly now and far into the future.

This pending disaster MUST BE BLOCKED and our representatives must know that we the people must not be ignored. The message has been sent and will be sent again and if it is ignored. The people will know for certain that they have no representation. With no representation, we live in a state of TYRANNY.

Though there is not agreement on what should be done, we know that the political process including the selection of candidates is driven by money. We also know that illegal immigration is powered by money. Those benefiting from illegal immigration are those hiring the illegal immigrants and they are the same individuals financing and influencing our legislators to push through legislation that guarantees a supply of cheap labor. Such labor will result in suppression of wages for most Americans and loss of jobs for many.

A lesson taught by history will underscore the correct actions we should take, as well as highlight what is conspicuously missing in the current debate.

The Eisenhower administration instituted a policy that created an era that saw the lowest incidence of illegal immigration in the history of the U.S. That policy resulted in the prosecution, fining and in a few cases jailing of those who were hiring the illegal aliens.
When the word got out that the administration was serious, the jobs dried up and the “illegals” found their own way home at no cost to the taxpayer. That policy continued until it was changed during the Johnson administration. Why is that lesson now being ignored? I think the answer lies in the fifth paragraph.

Many of the immigrants now arriving in the U.S. do not truly want to become U.S. citizens. The evidence for that is very strong. We regularly see demonstrations aimed at changing our policy, our society, our laws and our language! If those demonstrators want those changes, why did they come here? The obvious answer is OPPORTUNITY.

We cannot accommodate everyone on earth who wants opportunity. The continental United States probably can’t house four billion people! Since the evidence shows that many immigrants really want opportunity, a quick look at what creates opportunity provides us with a solution to the problem.

The U.S. differs from most other American nations in one primary aspect. Our unusually wise and ethical Founding Fathers passed up the opportunity to set up their own positions as Royalty and instead fought off the temptation to be an elite group. They chose instead to set up a constitution that permits free enterprise and the ability of the worker to enjoy some of the fruits of his own labor. THAT is opportunity. (Today, a few may hate the Constitution for that very reason.)

Though the immediate securing of our borders is important for Homeland Security, it is of secondary importance in the legislation regarding immigration. Those protesting and demonstrating for the purpose of changing our society don’t want to be U.S. citizens and they would be better served by having the opportunity to enjoy prosperity at home. We must institute a policy that supports not just democracy in other nations but one that encourages those who want change to seek opportunities to correct dishonesty and elitism in their own societies, governments, military and police. They need free enterprise and ownership of their businesses. They desire the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labor, their society, their language and their families.

The benefits to all of us are several. It will help the economies of those societies and thereby level the “playing-field” from the viewpoint of business and economy. It will lessen the need or desire to “export” jobs to areas where wages are lower. It will take off some of the pressure created by a flood of immigrants who don’t really want to be part of our society. It will strengthen trading partners and reduce tyranny. It will enable us to accommodate those who truly WANT to be U.S. citizens.

There are many additional facets to the immigration issue, but I feel the above addresses issues not currently being considered in proposed legislation. Please DO NOT CONSIDER PASSING THE CURRRENT IMMIGRATION BILL. Put it on the shelf until better legislation and appropriate policy changes can be addressed.
