Many people listen to Sharpton because he has a habit of cutting right to the chase. He's not always right about what he's protesting about neither is he always wrong, however, if you are flicking the channels with limited time to spare, Sharpton will get his point across in the five seconds you may have set aside for him before you turn the channel. He has a good heart with a side order of major drama, however, if you have a venue where people are dodging the issues, putting old Rev. Sharpton on the scene might not be a bad idea. During the 04 Presidential debates, He was actually voted by the CNN veiwers as the politician who touched most on the real issues and skirted the least.

Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are both part of the old school notion that blacks need a spokesperson to protect their interests.
They go wherever they think they can get media coverage.
To some they provide protection for the disenfranchised in society.
They prey on the notion blacks can't stand up for themselves.
Recently there has been some backlash in the black community that says these so called reverends do not speak for all blacks.
But as long as the media covers them they will continue to suck in donations.

In his day Al Sharpton was a Strong Black leader.
Why is it that if a racial comment was made to any "African America", by a white man, they have to apologize to Al Sharpton.
Apologize to the person not to Al Sharpton.
I think he should retire.

Sadly to say there aren't many qualified black leaders. Not to say that there aren't any...they're just not in leadership roles. Al Sharpton could be a great black leader if he would be more selective in his choices of matters to speak up about...cough cough(Katrina)... Unfortunately like many others he has let the limelight jade him. Lately he hasn't seen a camera he didn't like. Blacks should boo him off the stage.

al sharpton is a race pimp, if he had his way we would be in a race war right now, im a white man with 4 mixed nieces and nephews that i love to death, so im not prejudice against anyone , except maybe al sharpton,,he makes his living exploiting his race, in 50 years we will all be mexicans anyway so screw it, he isnt worth the broken bat it would take to shut him up

hey, if youre white whitney, and you dont grant him an audience, he will pull out the old favorite. you wont see me because youre a racist. so, he and jackson have perfected the art of the shakedown in that way because our culture is so damn worried about being politically correct they cave in. oooh, god forbid you dont meet with a black man... it only works in their favor because they get attention, interviews on news shows, and cash in their pockets. they could care less about the black community. the more theyre divided, the better they like it.

It's kind of hard to not "hear" the big mouth bigoted racist when he has a bullhorn! I thank God that not all blacks listen to the race-baiter that he is. Can you think of how it would be if he did this for illegals only?!
