What are those Big bright circles on the roofs of UK police cars for? Sometimes they are flourecent orange and other times yellow, does anyone know what these colours correspond to?

Although I'm not an officer from the UK, I am aware that there are specific patrol cars that have unique "jobs" while on duty.

There are Traffic, K-9, Community Liaison, Patrol, and Response units along with several other type patrols. With all the resources available it's often confusing when also using a "Air Support" Division.

The particular markings you inquire about allow for the air units to more easily identify the unit types on the ground therefore making it easier to communicate with specific cars.

In the US you will normally distinguish the different patrol cars by the Unit Designation or "car number" located on the roof!

Hope this helps....best wishes!

Yep. that's authentic. Resale values are extra positive and they are also extra readilly avaialable. the following in strathclyde lots of the police vehicles are silver, no matter if that's a panda automobile or a site visitors automobile.

Hi. Most UK Police cars have BLUE Sirens on top of them, the more serious ones. U will only see orange ones on top of the ones who r after people for MUCH SMALLER OFFENSES, that is people who GOT 3 POINTS ON THEIR LICENCE AND A £60 FINE ONCE FOR BREAKING THE SPEED LIMIT LIKE MYSELF. The YELLOW ones are USUALLY BREAKDOWN-RECOVERY VEHICLES IN FACT! Dan.
