Absolutely. Infuriating isn't it?
By the way, anyone with half an education can easily see that Gore is about a thousand times more mature, strong, moral, educated, etc. than our current intellectually challenged president. He would have handled 911 with strength and intelligence, not just xenophobic machismo.

You're right.
And I agree with the poster who claimed it was 'orchestrated'.
We were bitten by our own insistence on legality.
On the other hand, who would have expected Jeb Bush to run over his own brother? No one.
There was no good way out.
I think for a goof ball, George Bush has some great Political Minds behind him.
We are only a few steps away from a dictatorship.
Good luck

Lets also assume Jesses Jackson hadnt come--then Gore definately wins since Jackson caused so many votes to be invalidated (voting for 2 presidential candidates).
I see two situations. One, Gore asks for help after 9/11--maybe from Clinton, who he hopefully is smart enough to stop alienating. Things go well. PR war (like Clinton vs. Hussein) that doesnt end in direct military conflict. Nothing is permanently resolved, but lives lost are almost all military targets in the Middle East. Situation still not great afterwards, but at least its not this, and we're not further from a resolution than we are now. GOP and DNC stay pretty balanced in Congress, Rehnquist replaced by Gore bringing a bit of balance to the court-candidate would have to be relatively moderate to be allowed by Congress.
Situation 2, Gore doesnt ask for help and keeps trying to strike out on his own. His inexperience shows itself and he does almost what Bush did, clamping down on the US and trying to seal his power in any way he can. Republicans stay in control of Congress, so still nothing is accomplished due to constant head butting between the two. Gore gone after 4 years (GOP had good options for the 2004 election, they just didnt use them). Rehnquist would try to stay through Gore and be replaced by a GOP judge. Most likely candidate for that and for President would be relatively moderate.

Your right because when old Judge Jack got all them to vote to stop the recount, Judge Kennedy stated, "We will live to regret this for the rest of our lives, because this the biggest mistake that was ever made'. He said that the next morning after George Bush was declared winner. We have had to pay a tremendous price for that vote to stop the vote count for the rest of our lives.

What, have fair elections? That would put the Republicans at a huge disadvantage.

Get a life...there have been numerous recounts donesince then...including by Liberal organizations that would have sold their souls to prove that Gore won. EVERY SINGLE RECOUNT had Bush winning. So get over it.

Complete the recount? The votes were counted numerous times. How many recounts do you think we should have had? As many as it took to declare Gore the winner?

We would be worse off. We cannot have a politically biased state court deciding which votes to count and which not.

Yeah...
"Gore prevents 19 crazy guys with box cutters from evil plot."
"Gore finds and strangles Osama with his bare hands in 2 weeks after US invaded."
"Gore sez: No quagmire in Iraq."
"Record surplus."
We could have had a paradise compared to what we have now.
