I got a parking violation for parking at a street that had the following rules: No parking from 6pm-8am nightly. 2 hour parking from 8am-6pm daily. Exempt for district 37 residents.
I parked here at 11am for 20 minutes which falls into the right time stated. There was no sign anywhere that says you CANNOT park here if you are not a district 37 resident. Exempt means to free from an obligation or liability to which others are subject, meaning they can park here anytime (if I'm correct). Through the crappy scribbles of the parking enforcer I found out that I was not supposed to park there without some sort of liscence, yet no sign stated that on the whole street. Does that exempt thing have another lawfull definition? Or should I go petition this?
P.S. All cars parked on this side of the street had a ticket except a few. Some had that district 37 pass others did not. Could this be a flaw in the laws stated and an exploit to law enforces to push money out of people?

Noone had a ticket when I arrived of course, or else it would be pretty stupid of me to park inbetween them. Yes, perhaps I'm going to take pictures of the signs because personally I do believe it is quite misleading and I dont really want other people falling into this thinking they have the right to park there.

You answered your own question when you said you were not supposed to park there.

You might be able to get the ticket tossed. That sign seems to be misleading to me. It seems to say that between 8am and 6 pm, anyone can park there for 2 hours, however, disctrict 37 people can park there for any amount of time.
If you go to court and show the judge pictures of the sign and you are sure there are no other signs there, then there is a chance the judge will agree with you and say the ticket is void. The question will be, is it worth your time to fight the ticket?

Plead Not Guilty.
Take photographs and present the case you did here.
The prosecutor (probably the cop himself) will have to prove his case with evidence. You only need reasonable doubt.
You tell the judge that you want to show that a reasonable person would not think he was violating any law according to the signs, time of day and other circumstances.
BTW I find it hard to believe that you would even get a ticket if all you said was the whole truth of the matter. I imagine a judge would be even more skeptical and critical of the officer..

If the information regarding the signage is accurate, I'd say you have a pretty good case. Take pictures of the area and the sign(s). Make the pictures good enough so that the signs can be read by the judge. Make yourself a court date and give it a go. Good luck.
Hope this helps.

I would take a picture of the sign and bring it to court and contest it. It does sound like it was misleading.

i might want to propose you to contest it. that would want to wish to be grounds for a dismissal, inspite of the indisputable fact that it does no longer assure it. ordinarily you could write a letter to the choose rather of attending to look in courtroom. make confident you deliver a photocopy of the fee ticket with you. in the journey that they opt for you're gulity a minimum of maximum parking tickets are minimum value.

If you don't want to get the boot on your car, you should pay it. It will cost more to get it, if it gets impounded.
