I read somewhere that if someone committed what would be typically a felony and this was their first time being convicted of a crime, the felony will be automatically considered as a misdemeanor (this is without it being dropped into a misdemeanor by pleas, etc.). I was just wondering whether this is true.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.), citing concerns about Americans' privacy, signaled yesterday that he will push to repeal a provision of a 2005 law aimed at creating new government standards for driver's licenses.

Leahy, who has co-sponsored bipartisan legislation to repeal the provision, spoke out as the debate intensified over the Real ID Act, which requires states to create new tamper-proof driver's licenses in line with rules recently issued by the Department of Homeland Security. States must begin to comply by May 2008 but can request more time. After 2013, people whose IDs do not meet those standards will not be allowed to board planes or enter federal buildings.

I have a schedule. I have to show up to work on time, or they might think I'm a flake.

The bus does not show up on the scheduled time at my stop consistantly. This makes me 20 minutes late (the next one is 20 min. later). If I get fired because I'm late often, can the bus company be held accountable?

they are already out in force mocking the death of an old man because he was religious and did not think that abortion and homosexuality was right. oh, the horror! of course, compare him to hitler, a nazi, the kkk, blah blah blah. because he said that homosexuality and abortion are sins he is clearly the worst human being in the history of mankind. can't liberals just let the man rest in peace for once instead of showing their true selves?

I think that for the duration of the war, this would be a reasonable policy.

I'm not talking about a U.S. government policy, but a U.N. policy agreed upon by all nations.

Neither side is gunna give an inch. but the dumbest thing is its about unwanted pregnacies not abortion. No one will say killing a child is right. If both groups put half thier protesting effort into adressing the actual issue abortions would be gone.

Now we have endless protests and we pick the leader of US based on just this one opinion. Which is even dummer cause this will be decided in court reguardless of what the president does. Even by picking judges, that need to be aproved.

And no matter what the law is, people will still have abortions. That is why it was legalized in the first place due to the damage done to women doing it outside of the law.

Dumb people.. they are everywere....

I don't have a link, but I saw a story about a man in delaware that got fired because he was a smoker- and not because he was smoking at work, but because a pee test came back positive for nicotine. Do you think this is fair? The reasoning was that smokers cost more to provide health insurance to. What about just not offering smokers health insurance?

I know smokers choose to do it, but hell- most pregnant people chose to get pregnant, and they cost more to insure.. is it fair to fire every pregnant woman?

The study above found that the US ranked LAST behind 5 other countries with national healthcare plans in terms of health care quality AND cost.

And that study probably doesn't even factor in all the lost productivity time from uninsured sick workers.

And Repubs have shown that they're SOOO competent in managing things like the Iraq war and the national deficit.

So why should we continue to listen to these sniveling crybabies about health care?

Since when did the government hold a leash on your tongue?
Ofcourse you can say what you like you've always been given that luxury you are just smart enough to realise what to say, when to say it and in front of whom to say it.
What exactly is 'political correctness' depriving you of saying or doing, please enlighten me?
