I am dismayed my many of the rude and insulting comments made against Scots by many English people on this site, in answers to this and many other questions I've seen. I really don't see how you can say we Scots are "too anti-English" in the face of that. There are a minority of Scots who are equally insulting about the English, but this kind of ignorance goes both ways, and I don't believe many people take such ill-informed views seriously, well not in Scotland at least.

As for promoting the English, I think England promotes itself very well as it is. I do agree with Rosie though. I don't see why England shouldn't have a devolved Parliament similar to that in Scotland and Wales

It's all to do with the Scottish education system which spreads the word from day one that an independent Scotland was ruthlessly enslaved by a greedy English, who kicked the Clans off their land and put sheep there instead.

Unlike England, Scotland was never part of the Roman world. This is the reason why Scots around the world are perceived as independently minded and willing to go to any lengths, fight any war, to hold onto and where necessary regain their total freedom and liberty from the Anglo Saxons.

Neither Scots nor Scotland will tolerate being slaves of any lesser nation, especially not of the English.

Oh Garystee who needs to promote England the Scottish are just jealous because the Queen and siblings live in England. I have never heard a Scotch person say anything against the English. Oh dear you should hear the Irish opinion of the English then you would have a complaint. D.
Of course you do realise in Rugby Ireland is the best. Sorry couldnt resist.

Judging from various comments I've seen on Y/A - there are many more English people who are anti-Scottish than Scots who are anti-English.

Its not the English people that many Scots don't like, its more the anglocentricity of the British media. e.g. When a Scottish person or team wins something (lets say a sporting event) they are "British" according to the media, but when an English person or team win, they are "English" according to the media. Its that kind of unfair anglocentric attitude that many Scots rail against.

Does Andy R not know how to read?
Nowhere in this question does it mention USA or 4th July.
I am Scottish & can assure you that we are not all anti-english. We just object to having no say on what happens to our country & its wealth.
Also, spacephantom made a good point about the sporting event thing. Usually its at football matches & after every single win they mention the 1966 World Cup.

It's not the English people who we are biased against, it's the government, there are probably more Scott's living south of the border than vice versa, keep in mind we have morons both sides of the border.

We need an English Parliament. I simply don't understand how you can have devolution without devolving the English.
