Answer: I quote Thomas Sowell...
"Their (the American lefts) greatest anger seems to be directed at people and things that thwart or undermine the social vision of the left, the political melodrama starring the left as saviors of the poor, the environment, and other busybody tasks that they have taken on.
It seems to be the threat to their egos that they hate. And nothing is more of a threat to their desire to run other people's lives than the free market and its defenders."

paranoia
socialists(libs) believe everyone is out to get them, and they are probably are correct since they cannot call themselves what they really are.
In Russia it began as socialists, which they immediately were discovered for the evil they are and they had to change their name to communist to get any respect, and now since that is found to be a joke they change their name to liberal or progressive.
Their world view is so out of kilter with reality no sane person yet subjected to their brainwashing will even consider communism/socialism as an option, again the reasons for all the name changes.
They are against war, period and want peace, but their definition of that is when everyone is a subject of their rule.
Their method of expression with each other is reminiscent of a circle jerk, slapping each other, telling each other how great they are and the rest of AMericans must do as they are told.
Their method of expression with others is elitist, they are smarter and know better and you must comply or else, which of course is one of the reasons they are hated.
It is a sad thing, really a mental illness which cannot be repaired until it is recognized by themselves. Talk to a former democrat, he will tell you the people ruling the party are insane, their words not mine.
So what needs to occur is for the voters repudiate socialism and send them back to the darkness where they come from.

They say, there is a very thin line between love and hate, but seriously the primary cause of hatred can be traced to the manipulation of the ignorant.

Probably the same thing that caused all the hate and anger of Bill Clinton from the right. Incessent hatred of the oppisite side no matter what. But this just comes from the extremes on either side. Most people have enough sense to consider issues and not just hate the other sides view.

The dogma of the right accepts the idea that there will be opposition - that there will be enemies along the way who must be defeated to succeed.
The dogma of the left, OTOH, holds that, if only all people could put asside thier prejudices, everyone would willingly co-exist in loving peace.
When your vision of the way the world should be is repeatedly dashed by ugly reality, you tend to get a little miffed.

The attitudes of individual conservatives inspire anger and hatred. For example, people who use outdated, disproven links and news stories to support their erroneous, stubbornly foolish and willfully ignorant opinion that Saddam and Iraq were involved with 9/11.
The reason this inspires anger is because good soldiers are dying due in part to such a lie and those stupid enough to view the political spectrum as consisting only of "freedom and slavery," for example, are exacerbating those deaths.

I think that this is a sweeping generalization. Not all of us who lean left have "terrible hatred and anger." Step outside of the box.

It is simple.
There are a lot of people in this world who are taught as kids that they are the center of the universe. They end up believing that their opinion must be heard, after all they were treated like this as kids.
You also have people who are raised in environments where their self worth is based upon the things they have and the things they acquire.
Red and blue mixed equals purple. Same for liberals.

It's because their plan isn't working. The approval rate of the Democrat Congress is lower than President Bush's and dropping more every day. Today is was at 29% and the disapproval rate was in the neighborhood of 60%. People realize that the democrats are not the answer, and that just makes them angry.

1. My country used to value privacy. Now there is no privacy, since many officials could spy on me with the government's blessing. To add insult to injury, this perversion is called "The Patriot Act."
2. Iraq. Useless to America, waste of money, waste of our boys.
3. The exercise of our freedom of speech is now frequently labeled as "treason." Cheap tactic, unforgivable insult.
4. Dubya. A national embarrassment, an international humiliation. One election by coup, a 2nd election by the slimmest of margins, yet behaving as though he has a mandate.
5. Dubya's moral obligation to observe centrist values, based on his barely making it into office, yet pushing the Supreme Court as far right as humanly possible.
6. Hate mongering among right-wing media. Limbaugh. Coulter. Unspeakable vileness. Lies. Straw man arguments. Jingoism.
I could continue.
