I'm hoping someone with knowledge of law can help me out. I have a teacher in my online college writing class who just gave me a warning for being "rude" to another student. What I did was I wrote a letter answering a students critique of one of my pieces (an extremely ignorant and arbitrary one.) with something along the lines of “well that’s your problem not mine." And then I get this warning letter, so what I'm wondering is: Don't I have free speech in college to say whatever I want? I mean it's not like I wrote profanity, but I may have written some bitter words. Anybody know what the limits of free speech in college are? Thanks

The Archbishop of York has paid to take out an advert in newspapers advising people to think carefully before they vote.. and to choose a politician that exercises "integrity".

How CAN Joe and Jane Public be expected to choose such a mythical person when we don't have the choice of WHO we put forward TO represent us - the ordinary Joe Soap?

The political parties MAKE THAT choice, THEREBY denying us the chance to "vote for a politician with integrity"... so,

a) HOW can we make sure we vote for a politician exercising integrity?
b) Do we believe such people exsist?
c)Has the Archbishop of York wasted his money PAYING the newspaper to take his advert?

we needed our facias and soffits replacing. The first company to give us a quote was Anglian Windows. It was the usual scenario of pressure to sign immediately to take advantage of the special promotional offer and having your house used as a show house. We signed a contract for the work to be carried out at an agreed price and gave a deposit. 6 weeks later we were informed that before for any work could start there would need to be substantial price increases even though we had signed a contract and given a deposit. Does anyone else have similar experience of Anglian Windows not honouring their contract or behaving in a disreputable way?

Hillary is failing as a candidate because of many things, but mostly for her support of the war . Now she's trying to find a new way out of her stance and suggesting that they revoke the right to go to war . BIG mistake. . . . where were her advisors when she needed them ? Edwards and others immediately called her out on her flip-flop .

Wow , only a few months ago she thought it was gonna be a cake-walk !! Now she struggling for her very survival !!

As Hillary loses more support, what will be her next 'great' idea ?

In a pub last week, one lad attacked another and elbowed me in the process, giving me a black eye. The police took statements and the lad was to be charged with assaulting the other lad. However, he has been cautioned. I am left with a very bruised face and eye - can I prosecute even though he didn't really mean to hurt me? If so, how do I go about it?

Just curious what people think.

This question assumes the point of view that Russia is moving quickly enough to be noticed towards a totalitarian regime again. Considering their methods of controlling the supply of oil to Europe (with their multiple stoppages in supply for political reasons) as well as what is now perceived as a strong shift towards a totalitarian, USSR style "communism"...

So Red China already exists, but they have what is becoming more and more a capitalist economy under that communistic regime. The U.S. has considered China to be neither foe nor friend in recent years.

Which nation is the bigger threat overall and what can we do about Russia's shift in policy? Nothing? Something?

Interested in whatever you have in response to this or in contribution to the question itself.

Curious.

I always hear Liberals attacking the idea of liberating the people of Iraq based on the ideas that there were no WMD there, and there was no Al Qaeda connection. Accepting the first premise as being true, something must have changed at approximately the same time the Bush administration took office, because right up until then, there were Democrats speaking out about the need to remove Saddam Hussein from power. Many of these Democrat quotes mentioned WMD, but that was not the only reason given. In actuality, there were more reasons to remove Saddam Hussein than there were to allow him to remain in power. The intelligence came from the CIA, which was lead by Georgie Porgie Pudding Pie through both administrations. Have you ever seen the video of a living person having their hand dissected? If you lived under Hussein's rule, you could have been the lucky guy. At any rate, I must have missed the great event that occurred in Iraq involving the WMD. What happened, and when did it occur?

When carrying out urban renewal activities, most of the people displaced from their homes are the poor masses because they dwell in slums & sprawling settlement that require renewal activities.

The displacement heightens their sufferings and yet one of the essence of such planning activities is to provide a conducive healthy environment for people that will support the standard of living they can afford.

General practice has been to demolish areas considered as slums and rebuild or create resettlemet schemes for displaced persons and so on. And these methods involve hudge government spendings which the government of today, i'm speaking for most developing countries of the third world, cannot afford.

So my question is: What other alternatives can be applied when carryig out such planning activities that will minimise the sufferings of those affected because it almost seems like there is a conflict between what is expected as urban planners and the interest of those affected

I first ran across Congressman Ron Paul during one of his speeches to congress about the war. I was taken by his unique positions, honesty, boldness as well as common sense. I wondered why I hadn't heard about him much in the media. He made some profound statements in the republican debate, coming out as really the only real conservative, tackling issues the others don't dare touch, yet the media has again completely ignored him. In fact I can't even find the debate online! Has anyone heard of Con. Ron Paul?
