Please read an earlier post for xtra info "What is the point in contesting this divorce?" I can't afford to be married to him anymore. My husband is an attorney and works in court as a law clerk for a judge. He is well respected by all, BUT if these people only knew. I am working with my attorney to prove I am not neglegent for debt we are in. With late fees, from cash advances every month on high interest rate c/c, 70 bounced check fees in 3 yrs, all written by him. taking a job w/a 30K yr. paycut, borrowing from the 401 to pay off c/c debt, and not paying them off. Refusing our councelors offer to work w/him on r finances, he tells her no, not until I fix the marriage. I have always wanted to sit 2gether 2do them. Now he's telling my 19yr. old he can't help him w/com college bcuz, I filed for this divorce. Yet last yr my son had to pay $1900 frm his sav acct 2grad. high school. he is telling r kids and his family that I have caused this debt. How can I be protected from this

sopcwebservant, Can't never could and I will decide for myself what is good, right and wise. Who are you to judge? That will be up to God. I did not complain about misery, that is found in people who like to call other people stupid and that is a reflection of them and shows a lack of respect for themselves and others I am not going to fight an attorney, I've hired one to protect me. I do not need remedial spelling, perhaps a course in creative reading would help anyones lack of creative thinking. If you would think... you would know that there is a limited amount of space to ask questions. But maybe, because you want to insult people, you didn't think about why. Time is precious and I have wasted too much of my time time responding to your sad, heart breaking, opinionated perspective of a little mans sob story with no common sense and nothing better to do but insult people.

First of all let me state that I am not an attorney but I have a friend who had a similar experience. You didn't mention if you have other children under the age of 18. My friend filed for divorce in a different county than the one she and her husband lived in. If he has a great reputation in your county; why not try this. It sounds as though you can provide proof as to his financial antics. You could use this to your advantage. If you have minor children you can request child support and spousal support. You can also request that he pay your legal fees. If you do everything right and you still get screwed; my advise to you is to file bankruptcy. Anything that is in both of your names will become his sole responsibility.

You say that you have an attorney, so why aren't you asking him these questions? No one here is really qualified to give you legal advice, even if there are attorneys here, because every state has different laws.

File a divorce but make sure that your husband will support your child particularly his education.
