Why is it that the liberals say they are for the troops, when they are vetoing all funds for food and armor for Iraq until George W. Bush surrenders Iraq to the terrorists? That sounds like holding the troops hostage for me. I see this as a game of chicken waiting to happen, one that the liberals started, with the troops in the middle. I think they're just desperate to make the political statement everyone already accepts that going into Iraq was a bad idea. But as to the reason why we should with draw, is the assertion that it's UNWINNABLE!!!11111oneoneone

such things as:

"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get
married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period."

AND

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It
is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." - From a fundraising letter in support of a committee to stop the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment for women) in Iowa

really no reason to protest? Certainly a few in the military are killed and a few wounded, but ain't that their job? Besides if this war/skirmish in Iraq was really that serious for us in the USA i have no doubt that Pres Bush and VP Cheney would call on all Americans to sacrifice correct? Americans need to toughen up and realize that life is really not that precious, just like the Muslims know now and the Nazis knew earlier, correct?

Before you answer, consider the racist hysteria against Japanese-Americans after Pearl Harbor. Today, our internment of hundreds of thousands of Americans in concentration camps is considered a serious strike against our reputation as a democracy.

But the mentality that caused that is no different than today's Islamophobia.

In years past, during colonial occupations, various countries - notably England - would appoint a Viceroy to a conquered territory.
A Viceroy was basically a final authority - a ruler if you will - representing the conqueror over the conquered.
Should the USA appoint a Viceroy, or a Viceroy like figure in Iraq?
The Arabs and Iranians have proved themselves basically to be savages, unable to be trusted in the broader global picture and thus need to be ruled, at least until their backward, destructive culture is changed or reformed

Why don't people realize this:

The reason why Bush is keeping our soldiers in Iraq is to stop Al Qaeda from making Iraq into another safe haven for terrorists. He's said that that is the reason, many times. If we left Iraq tommorow without stopping the insurgency, the terrorists would use Iraq as a hideout to launch a second terrorist attack on America. They would crash a plane into a nuclear plant and kill 7'000'000 Americans, and the civil warfare would quickly kill all 6'000'000 residents of Baghdad.

Therefore, SUPPORT VICTORY IN IRAQ, NOT FAILURE.

Why is it that Southerners seem to be Republican and the most loyal to Bush even as he flounders? Why are Northerners more liberal? Is it a Religious thing? Or a cultural thing? A black thing or a white thing? Even Southern Democrats are Conservative. I have my own opinion, but will not state it here and allow free expression for answerers

I've heard this assertion so many times. Why? It's often followed up with another assertion.
"The war in Iraq is unwinnable! The Iraqis don't want democracy! Bush is a stupid hick!" Is the way it usually follows.
I'd like to say something, and you all say why it's wrong.
We haven't really ever given Iraq democracy. We gave them anarchy, we didn't have enough troops to give them democracy. Sure, we can't stop car bombs from killing our troops, but is it really us v.s. the Iraqis? If we had enough soldiers to enforce order (as in, stop shi'ites from dragging sunnis out of their cars at red lights and then killing them, and vis versa), would the Sunnis and Shi'ites get mad at us? They didn't hate each other 18 Months ago, I could cite the Time Magazine article titled, "Why do they hate each other?" Could it be that they liked Saddam more because Saddam kept law and order, which America screwed up? And isn't it our duty to establish the law and order that we destroyed, or at least try?

Senator Taft(R) of the Taft-Hartley act said that "a pair of bib overalls and a dollar a day is good enough for any workin man".

I can't see that is in my best interest to vote for a republican that shares this belief.
