Quote,"

Wrong, as a law enforcement officer I can tell your first hand that most states will collect even if there has not been a 'Paternity test' given. All the mother has to do is give a name and any other helpful info and that's it.... Sounds like a pretty fair system we live in, doesn't it? The 'Family Law' system is most biased towards men which makes it obviously unfair. And as a result men, and very few women are treated too harshly. The courts have absolutely no business in family affairs with regards to payments being made to one another. This only creates and exaggerates problems further, one of which is non-payment to begin with. Matters of this need to be left to the parents without any court involvement. There is no 'Proof' or smoking gun that a single parent raising a child without any assitance from the non-custodial parent is any more or less offered the same life as a child who is receiving support. All that is showing are studies, stats etc...and we all know that is always padded. Try lining up and questioning a hundred doctors/lawyers/judges and you will get 100 completely different answers everytime.
I can tell you from first hand experience that incarceration is NOT a solution only a burden to the parent seeking support. The majority that have been incarcerated currently only continue to not pay their support. It doesn't work, face it. It's time to do away with the support theory. I myself come from a family of three brothers and three sisters and our mother did not receive support and I can flat out say it did not harm us in any way shape or form. We all have grown up with respectable jobs as well as families with no divorces. We even have a standing relationship with our father to this day and hold no ill feelings towards him.

I firmly believe you can not force a person to be a parent...this would be backward thinking as well as irresponsible on ones behalf. This country has social systems in place that are and were designed just for these types of issues and best of all they're already tax payer funded. These programs have been around for decades. And to those who say, "Well my parent isn't working or is working under the table etc..."putting the parent in a position where he/she is able to work and pay their share of taxes while still being able to put a roof over their head is far better than the current way the courts deal with them.

I say leave it up to the individual man. If he thinks there's a chance he may not be the father, ask for the test. If in his heart he knows ....then no need for the test. There are women that will lie but there are also men that will try and wiggle out of being a dad, just to get out of child support.
Pity the poor children.
I say if you can't keep your pants up, then be prepared to pay the consequences.

It's a great Idea! I think it's a rotten shame when woman insist one guy is the father of their child, "he was the only one I was with," they have a huge fight and the guy learns he might not be the father. After bonding with that child and supporting the child.

It is a good idea. Why should a man support another man's child? Women shouldn't be cheating on their husbands or sleeping around so much that they do not know who the father of their child is.

It is a fair idea. It will settle the matter of whether or not the person paying child support (usually the father) is the one who should be paying.

I think it is fair.
Why should someone have to pay for a child for 20+ years if the child isn't his?
I think it also establishes that this is the man's child and that he has rights to a relationship with it.
It protects the child and the parent.
And if the mother lied or cheated, it should be her own damn problem.

Yes, you have to prove that the guy really is the father,

If he admits he is the father DNA tests are not required and won't be done.

If they can find a logistical way to do it then i am all for it. Thats an 18 year commitment we are talking about. If you know your the parent already then it really shouldn't matter, its not big deal

good idea. that way everyone knows beyond reasonable doubt who the father is. lets just say it is a good idea to keep honest people honest and dishonest people at arms length.
