really no reason to protest? Certainly a few in the military are killed and a few wounded, but ain't that their job? Besides if this war/skirmish in Iraq was really that serious for us in the USA i have no doubt that Pres Bush and VP Cheney would call on all Americans to sacrifice correct? Americans need to toughen up and realize that life is really not that precious, just like the Muslims know now and the Nazis knew earlier, correct?

Hey dog----, tell us what freedoms you don't have working for the gov't? I spent 28 yrs with the Federal gov't and can't agree. Ever try to fire an incompetent Fed employee, I did and it's unbelievably difficult.

Let me tell you a story, about a young guy in college, he was setting in on a rap session one day. He spoke up and ask what are we doing in this war? From that point on he was called a communist sympathizer, that was some of the nicer names. 1965... lets flash forward to 1972, many of these young guys had come back from 'nam and were saying, why did I just fight in the war. There were 4 protesters killed at Kent State, that's right we were killing our own people for speaking out against the war. That didn't stop the protest, matter of fact they were done with more resolve. Read up on the democratic national convention, Chicago IL. 1968. Cops beat people for no good reason. Just because they disagreed with the war. But finally congress heard the call. These protesters that were called cowards, actually saved many lives. Flash forward to 2007, there is no new rhetoric, still called names. But the congress has an ear to the movement and is in the beginning stages of holding George Bush responsible for invading Iraq with no good reason, other then for his own personal gain. I think there is reason to protest, it is time that the majority of the American people be heard, it is time for justice. Before we kill some of our own on a college campus somewhere. .

Yeah, I agree. If we really were "losing", George W. Bush and Dick Cheney would volunteer to fight themselves, because they are committed to protecting Americans.

We must be just biding our time with the insurgents, trying to lull them into a false sense of security, by letting them kill so many troops and Iraqi civilians.

Protesting is how people get heard. Without people speaking out, our leaders have no sense of what people care about.

So, the people who want to be heard get out into public and say what they want to be heard. That's the nature of free speech.
