As the title says, what are the chances of being perfectly qualified for and enlisting as an accountant in the military and ending up in infantry (even though you were told from the very beginning when you signed up that you don't have to see actual combat if you don't want to)?

In recent times the population of Americans who participate in civic organizations, whether fraternal grps, garden clubs, political parties, environmental organizations, youth minded clubs, even bridge clubs and bowling leagues, has been dwindling.
What's your excuse? What would entice you back?
What would be enough to get you to participate in civil society?
What made you leave? Why did you never find an interest in the first place?
What kind of nation will we have when we all sit here in front of a computer at home, alone?

BUT...if you go back in history....even the Native American migrated to what is now the United States.

Why do people who use that argument use that as an excuse?

Yes, it is true that they were here before the "white man" was....however, they also came from somewhere else.

You are an on-duty police officer for the town of Anywhere. Your community has been struggling with a violence problem (mostly drug-related shootings & murders) for decades. More than 98% of the perpetrators are African-American males who wear sunglasses at night, drive "pimped" cars, and play Rap music on the car stereo. The crimes typically happen after Midnight in neighborhoods close to public housing developments.

It is 2:00am and you are only two blocks from a public housing development. You spot a 2-door Cadillac low-rider headed in the direction of the development and decide to follow. Upon approach, you see several African-American males inside the car. They are wearing sunglasses. Rap music is clearly audible through the open windows.

They have not commited a voilation of the law you have observed.
Is it racial profiling if you stop them?

This is something USA police face every day: Do your job - or don't do it because it's politically easier. Who pays?

Recently I was rear-ended by some idiot who was not paying attention, my car was totaled! Also my wife sustained a broken nose, big black eye, and many bruises. I sustained a swollen hand, lacerated eye, neck strain, and bruises. Can I sue for those injuries? are they serious enough? Rigtht after the accident I refused care because I was in no pain, but when I was at the hospital with my wife, I began to feel a lot of pain. I guess the adrenalin wore off. The next day I had to return to the ER due to extreme pain in my neck (from the whiplash of getting rear-ended) I was put on pain meds, muscle relaxers, and anti-inflamatory meds. Oh and my wife is 2months pregnant. Please help Yahoo! guys and girls

Borrow and spend - not conservative.
Playing fast with personal liberties - not conservative.
Largest expansion of government in recent times - not conservative.
the examples go on of course - but those are some big ones.

Is "lowering taxes" it? Is strong-arm foreign policy masquerading as "protecting the nation" it?

I am genuinely confused as to how real conservatives reconcile the traditional conservative values with modern conservatives.
