It's perfectly normal to be nervous. You have answered the call that many (most) others are not brave enough to answer. THANK YOU.
Remember any time you feel nervous or scared that there are people you don't even know who will pray for your strength and safety every day. I am one. I see others in this post who will as well. Feel free to draw upon that positive energy to see you through.
Pay attention to your training, listen to your gut, practice your breathing and take good care of yourself mentally and physically. Never say can't, and don't give up - ever. Come home safe and ask for help if you need it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
PS: There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
1.) Those who ARE Marines.
2.) Those who LOVE Marines.
3.) Those who want to BE Marines.

Do your job. Look out for your buddies (keep everyone hydrated). Don't bunch up. Keep your weapon(s) clean!!! Keep your chin up. Make sure you can look the guy in the mirror in the eye each morning. Don't let the media/politics get you down. Do your job, and that includes not playing video games while on Watch!.
We are in a war with really bad people and there is no easy way around it. Your responsibility is to do your job.
I spent 25 months in Iraq and will probably be back there or in Afghanistan by late May.

Keep the drama at home to a minimum, don't give power of attorney over your affairs to someone you don't trust (ie, shady a$$ girlfriend, wife, family member), keep your rifle clean, watch your back and watch the backs of your "brothers AND sisters" not just in a hostile situation but ANY situation unless you know what is going down is just plain wrong. Good luck and stay safe!!!!

First is to remember their culture is much different than ours and that tolerance of that difference is on your side. Don't expect them to be tolerant. Though like many here some don't agree with their governments policy most have never had the freedom to express or acknowledge it. Go, do your job, and follow orders. Trust no one but those you serve with and expect the unexpected. Talk to others that have been there and be proud of the principles you believe in.
Our prayers are with you and your family. Many thanks for being our shelter from the storm.

Hey! I think its natural to feel nervous if you will go to Iraq. You don't know what might happen there... or if you will still return alive. But honestly I think its quite exiting to go there... I wish I will be given a chance.... CHAT with me launzer_leiann@yahoo.com

God Bless You. The new "Dragon Skin" body armor is really effective. You can't get it through the military yet, but if you can get it, it is some damn fine armor. Costs about $6,000 from what I hear. Semper Fi!

Know that many of us will be on our knees, lifting you up in prayer. I will be as soon as I finish typing this and invite all others to join me. Now.
Thank you Paul for your service to this great country - it is great because of people like you.
