Regardless of your political views, this certainly gives us all food for thought.
Sen. Glenn was so quick on his feet.

When you speak from the heart and with passion, you never know what comes out.
SENATOR JOHN GLENN SAID:

Things that make you think a little.......

1. There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq
during the month of January.....

In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January.

That's just one American City ,about as deadly as
the entire war torn country of Iraq .

2. When some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war,state the following;

FDR...led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman...finished that war and started one in Korea , North Korea never attacked us.

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy....started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson...turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost,
an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton...went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us.

He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.

Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

3. In the two years since terrorists attacked us
President Bush has liberated two countries,

Crushed the Taliban,

Crippled al-Qaida,

Put nuclear inspectors in Libya , Iran and North Korea , without firing a shot, and
captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking,

but...It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch
Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less
time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy
the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the Police
after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick, killing a woman.

Wait, there's more......................

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they
do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator
Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive,
impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation
of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.

This is a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of our military.

JOHN GLENN ON THE SENATE FLOOR Date: Mon, 26 Jan 2004

Senator Howard Metzenbaum to Senator Glenn: "How can you run for Senate
when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn: "I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars.
I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by antiaircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in
the space program.

It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the
line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the
daily cash receipts to the bank. I ask you to go with me .. as I
went the other day... to a veteran's hospital and look those men -
with their mangled bodies - in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a
job! You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have
gone, to the widows and orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger
Chaffee... and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their Dads
didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in
Arlington National Cemetery , where I have more friends buried than I'd
like to remember, and you watch those waving flags.
You stand there, and you think about this nation, and
you tell ME that those people didn't have a job? I'll tell you, Howard
Metzenbaum; you should be on your knees every day of your life
thanking God that there were some men - SOME MEN - who held REAL jobs. And
they required a dedication to a purpose - and a love of country and a
dedication to duty that was more important than life itself. And
their self-sacrifice is what made this country possible.>>

I HAVE held a job, Howard! What about you?"

For those who don't remember - During W.W.II, Howard
Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA

If you can read this, thank a teacher....

If you are reading it in English, thank a Veteran.

Two years ago my family and I suffered an armed robbery, involving me having a gun held to my head. Not much fun, at the time the feeling I got from the criminals was that they simply wanted to steal stuff, so I didn't do anything. But what if the criminals were doped-up crazies, or total psychos? Are there any realistic self-defence techniques if someone has a gun to your head? In the movies you see people knocking the gun away and kicking the guy in the balls. Would this work? Or would the criminal be able to let a bullet off before you can do anything?

They are the most intolerant specieces on earth.

They disrupt free speech, and resort to fascist tactics in their effort to stop speakers. They throw pies, urine, pull fire alarms, and start fights to keep conservative speakers from speaking.

They cannot win on a level playing ground on ideas alone, and have only been able to survive because of the liberal biased media's help.

Assume your neighborhood was taken over and controlled by thugs. You are watching the 6pm news watching them ravage the neighborhood, raping the women and children, killing at random, taking no hostages alive. I assume you would call 911 but remember, no one wants to get involved so you will just have to pray and hope they don't break in and take your life. There is no one to call upon because the Democrats cut off all funding. They didn't understand that with help from the outside, your life and your childrens lives might have be saved. They simply wanted to wield their power and show the world they are now in charge. They seem to care less about the innocent people in the neighborhood and the freedom they might have had. My point is, this is the story of Iraq and the tragedy about to happen if the Dems do cut off funding. What say you?

As someone that generally follows Republican party lines when voting, I find it impossible to believe that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are the best possibilities for the democrats. Certainly we'll see after the primary elections take place, but in a purely superficial opinion, I think Hillary is too polarizing and that there are just as many democrats that don't like her as those that do. I do feel that if Hillary is nominated she will succeed in getting people out to vote against her, not necessarily for the republican candiddate, but just not for her. What experience does Obama have to support a run for the Presidency at this point? I know he is very well spoken and educated, but politically I'd still consider him a novice. If he holds off for 15-20 years I think he'd have a legitimate shot. Maybe someone could enlighten me on why either should be nominated. I just think that either would just make it easier for the republicans, regardless of who their candidate is.

I lent a vehicle to a friend in Med school so he could get around, I gave him the car title on a verbal agreement on trust, that he would pay me back when he finished med school in a year. He graduated, then skipped town on me, I found out where he is living now, one state away! what is the best way to go about trying to get any money owe to me back. The vehicle was only $ 3,000.
But its more of a Miss use of someones trust and kindness!

Several weeks ago, with much media fanfare, the James Baker-Lee Hamilton Committee submitted to President George W. Bush its long-awaited, bipartisan report on the U.S. war in Iraq. On balance, the report provided Bush with a face-saving strategy for pulling out all U.S. combat forces by the beginning of 2008. The Baker-Hamilton report favors an increase of U.S. advisers being embedded inside Iraqi troops & direct negotiations with regional powers Iran & Syria.

Bush, however, almost immediately distanced himself from key proposals in the Baker-Hamilton report. He now seems prepared to flagrantly flaunt his contempt for the majority of American voters, who purged both the Senate and House of their Republican majorities last November. Why does Bush defy public opinion by pursuing this unpopular war? Do you believe it is America's need to "combat Islamic terrorism"? Or perhaps the economic necessity for the USA to control international markets and natural resources? Neither?

Someone I know worked at a chinese restuarant and although they paid her more then the going rate per hour the owner kept the tips. I told her that customers leave the tips for the service not the owner. If I found out that a restuarant was doing that I would not go there again and I might say something not nice to them too.

There's a new movie "300" about the Spartans' battle with the Persians at Thermopolae. But even a casual glance at the history of the Spartans should have high schools and colleges dumping Spartans as a mascot. The Nazis were efficient, organized and passionately devoted to nationalism. All that sounds great, if you don't see the whole picture. But nobody's choosing the Fighting Nazis for a school's nickname. Aside from military training and heroism, just about everything about the Spartans is a legacy of inhumanity.

Words like "libtard" and "wingnut" add nothing to political debate, and is guarenteed to stir partisan anger and generate stupid repsonses.

Do people who do that usually realize what they're doing, as in "trolling", or do you think the level of ignorance in America is so high that the average person is oblivious?

I am really curious about this one. I mean really, since I have been a conservative all my life.

I believe in:
Personal Responsibility
Individual Rights (Goes hand-in-hand with the responsibility part)
States Rights
Small Federal Government
Low spending

The only one Bush meets in my view, as long as you don’t count his past indiscretions, is Personal Responsibility.

Overthrowing the filibuster: Liberal or Conservative?
Constitutional amendments to Abortion, Gay Marraige Wouldn’t that be anti-states rights?
Domestic Spying, Gathering Telephone Data, Banking Data, and reading private mail. Um. Individual rights?

Bush is for Religion, and for Business, and that is about it.

So, back to the question...

What makes you think Bush is a conservative?
