I have several warrants out for me, and I'll be going to jail within a few weeks, I was just wondering if anyone knows what it is actually like. I'm not going to maximum security or anything, just to jail for a few assault charges. Anyone know what I should be expecting?

In a jail setting they classify the inmates on the charges they are in on, charges they have been convicted for, as well as other factors such as drug and alcohol abuse. If you are going in on warrants for assaults, more than likely you will be classified as a maximum security or maximum risk. So you will be housed with those people like that.

How is jail? Well, jail is how you make it. A lot of it depends on where you are going to jail at. If you are going to be going to jail in a big city where they have a large jail, you are going to be locked up with some knuckleheads. Most of the time as long as you keep your mouth shut and respect people, you are going to be fine. You wil ljust need to adjust to the daily routines of things.

That is pretty much it. Some people can do time easier than other, so just go in there not expecting anything, and don't get all upset if the guards act like they don't care about you.

Good luck...

Crappy food, no smoking, sharing a shower with between 2 and 1500 other inmates. Lots of noise. Hard to sleep, Guards watching what you do at all times. Guards going through your stuff. Most county jails are pod like which have several inmates normally 25-90 per pod sharing the same room. Being able to go outside only 3 hours a week. And that is the good side of it.

The bad side of it is dealing with prison gangs even in the jails. Assaults, extortion, 98% of all inmates have been sodomized. Some even enjoy it. Some will allow you to preform fellatio instead, but most do get their butt plugged. But that is the worst case scenario.

Well, lets just say that the food could always be better. They make you eat with a big spoon only. They let you out a few times a day to watch tv, play cards, and read books. They play crappy music and you are forced to listen to it. Hopefully you are not homophobic, because they have community showers. Never request to be a TRUSTEE a.k.a House Mouse. They usually get harrassed by the inmates because they kiss someones but for extra privlages. Other than that, you have a lot of time to tell yourself that you do not want to go back. I have only been in county jail, and that is what it was like. I was there for only 3 weeks, but it was the longest 3 weeks of my life.

Jail is no fun. U get no privacy and u constantly have the police on your back. But as bad as jail is its also a time to for thinking about the ones u love and what they would say to u to keep u from making the same mistake. And with good behavior maybe the police let u out early. But the most important thing for u to remember is that God loves u and even if u end up spending your whole life in jail for whatever u did if u ask God as your Lord and savior he will forgive u and when u die he will offer u a home in heaven!

depends on where theyre gonna put you. i was locked up in a correctional facility 2 months ago . its jail but its better than prison. early morning breakfast ,sack lunch ok dinner. jail has alot of politics so be careful . my suggestion is to just hang tight and try to mind your own business while youre in there. saying the wrong thing could get you taxed so be careful.if youre fat, theres a chance youre gonna lose some weight because theres nothing to do but work out and read books to kill time. maybe if youre lucky you get to watch tv. good luck.

Most jails now prohibit smoking for health and general safety reasons. Depending upon the age of the facility will determine how things "appear" as far as upkeep and cleanliness.

It has been my experience that many inmates have little or no reason to care for their environment and will often do things to damage or destroy their facilities thus costing the taxpayer for repairs and upkeep.

As in any social group...one has to be cautious of what's said or done. Abide by the rules and do your time...it shouldn't be too awfully bad....but...remember the differences in incarceration versus your freedom. Go by the rules established by law and you won't have to go through this situation again!

Best wishes!
