Assume your neighborhood was taken over and controlled by thugs. You are watching the 6pm news watching them ravage the neighborhood, raping the women and children, killing at random, taking no hostages alive. I assume you would call 911 but remember, no one wants to get involved so you will just have to pray and hope they don't break in and take your life. There is no one to call upon because the Democrats cut off all funding. They didn't understand that with help from the outside, your life and your childrens lives might have be saved. They simply wanted to wield their power and show the world they are now in charge. They seem to care less about the innocent people in the neighborhood and the freedom they might have had. My point is, this is the story of Iraq and the tragedy about to happen if the Dems do cut off funding. What say you?

That pretty much sums it up! Its even worse that the so called 'rescuer' keeps wanting to go to war with one hand tied behind his back and be PC about it.
The US has gone mad primarily because of the leftist media and its slanted reporting. The average American is no longer represented by his elected officials and only a major change can restore our sanity. The self proclaimed 'saviors of humanity' (democrats) are all about power and wielding it at our expense through taxation. Most people spend their days working to pay for the government to lie to them and vegetating at night in front of a television looking at American Idol at night. The Republicans aren't much better. We have lost more civil rights under their reign of 12 years than at any time in American history
Political correctness is our enemy and we need to get over having our feelings hurt and get on with taking care of ourselves. It is time to change the entire regime in Washington DC. Vote out the incumbent and vote libertarian!
If congress cuts funding to Iraq and not to Social Welfare and illegal alien programs, then they will sign their own political death warrant and invalidate the 3000+ dead that they keep as a running tally in the news.
Did you know that more deaths occurred because of violence by illegal aliens in the US last year alone than in all 4 years of the Iraqi War. I tell you the media has lost it and the Dems control the media or the media controls the Dems (I don't know which, but the result is the same!).

I'm always amazed at people that want to blame everything on the American political party that they hate the most. The U.S. is in an awful mess in Iraq, and the only thing that we do is sit here blaming each other for the problem. The Repubs. blame the Dems., the Dems blame the Repubs., and nobody does anything to solve the problem.
At this time, it would probably be bad if the Dems. were able to, somehow or other, cut funding for the war, but that hasn't happened yet, and I don't know if many people want to do that. On the other hand, the neo-cons (repubs.) had a lot of responsibility for getting the U.S. in the mess in the first place. In the meantime, politicians in both parties are mostly concerned about the 2008 elections. So which party bears the most guilt?
In order to 'save' the Iraqi people from themselves, how many American soldiers will it take? 20,000? 100,000? How many years will it require? 10? 20? 50? Nobody knows, nobody has the slightest idea. American soldiers have been in Korea for over 50 years, do young Americans need to face 50 years in Iraq?

If everything was just as you said, I'd be pissed.
But there are definite differences in what you said and what is going on in Iraq. You had to change the situation because you know that if you just described Iraq and soldiers being cut off people would most likely say their usual answers.
In my opinion, America has to go either all in or all out. Going half way results in more deaths.

no such factor as destiny. best math. no at the vote to invade. my love lifestyles is much less fundamental than the virtually a million iraqis who have been killed and the virtually 4 million who have fled the nation in worry for his or her lives. edit: the primary and 3rd hyperlinks are from 2006 and each make estimates of over 600 thousand. the moment hyperlink talks approximately tested numbers of relocated iraqis. there are 1 in jordan on my own so... stories of inside displacement are protected in hyperlink 4.

What you describe is the situation WE CREATED in Iraq! yes, it was bad under Sadam, but far more innocent Iraqis (Not to mention our own brave troops) have died there since our invasion. the Bush administration CREATED this horror, and have alienated us from all other nations who might have helped us out of it. Now they want to pour more lives and money into a lost cause that they created? I am not for giving up in Iraq, but there has to be a better way than more of the same. (Maybe the administration should consider going back to the rest of the world and BEGGING for them to help us out of the mess our stupid president got us into!)

Magical thinking will get you nowhere. Have you even had family members in Iraq. I don't want my family to have to worry anymore. Our military does not need to be pushed anymore.
It's the Iraqi military's problem now. They need to start taking some initiative and stop having our boys put into the line of fire.
Have you put any consideration into what kind of sacrifices they are making? You'd prefer them to stay in Iraq indefinitely.
You have no idea what's going on do you?
