As someone that generally follows Republican party lines when voting, I find it impossible to believe that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are the best possibilities for the democrats. Certainly we'll see after the primary elections take place, but in a purely superficial opinion, I think Hillary is too polarizing and that there are just as many democrats that don't like her as those that do. I do feel that if Hillary is nominated she will succeed in getting people out to vote against her, not necessarily for the republican candiddate, but just not for her. What experience does Obama have to support a run for the Presidency at this point? I know he is very well spoken and educated, but politically I'd still consider him a novice. If he holds off for 15-20 years I think he'd have a legitimate shot. Maybe someone could enlighten me on why either should be nominated. I just think that either would just make it easier for the republicans, regardless of who their candidate is.

To Swim Mom- about Obama and Clinton is relative to their success as candidates. Think that both Obama and Clinton have polarizing characteristics, however superficial, that if nominated be the nail in the coffin for the 2008 election as far as the Dems are concerned. With Obama, his inexperience and his names unfortunate (in this instance) similarity to Osama, and Hillary having just as many detractors as she does proponents.

Personally, I like Edwards.

I don't think Obama is likely to win the nomination because he isn't that experienced, but I think he is very likely to be chosen as a running mate by whoever does win the nomination, and then he'll have a strong chance in 2012 if the Republican candidate wins in '08 or in 2016 if the Democrat wins.

I liked Hilary Clinton a lot in 1992--not so much any more, but I'd still vote for her in a general election against most of the Republicans I've been hearing about.

I have heard about one Republican who's come out against the war and is talking about running for president. I don't remember his name off the top of my head, but the fact that one exists is kind of heartening. I think the self-destruction of the Bush presidency is doing a wonderful job of disintegrating the radical wing of the Republican party and may yet bring the GOP back to true conservatism.

I agree with the first answer-er.

As much as I would love to have a minority or female president, I won't vote for someone just because of that.

And yeah, there's no one running for president that I really even remotely like. I don't feel like I'm being very well represented.

I would go for Obama. He's a cool fellow who really cares about the nation. Hillary, I don't know if she would win. People love her, but some don't feel she's right to rule the country. Obama, on the other hand, can probably hold his own and change the course of America for the better.

I can't imagine Obama and Clinton could screw things up any more than our current Republican leaders. Do you really think that Clinton and Obama are so weak that people would prefer to vote Republican regardless of who their candidate is? Please tell me which Republicans you feel are worthy of my vote?

Some one who's name sounds like Osama, does NOT get my vote. And someone who cannot control her husband, definitely does not get my vote. Sorry guys, but come on Dems....please do better than these two.
Signed,
Happy Bush Lover!!! ;-)

I don't see ANYONE on the horizon, in either party, that fills me with confidence, much less enthusiasm.
