i think if we focused on the financial aspect and reformed our banking system and took measures to seperate the govt form large corporations it would be a step in the right direction ... and corporations mainly involved in defense contracting ... when war is so profitable and those making money are too close to the govt it cant be conducive to making decisions that benefit the country or the common people ...

In the opinion of many, the government that governs least is the best for the people. If you prefer to live with minimal interference from government, fewer regulations and restrictions on your freedoms, hold your elected officials to that standard.

It is important for the people to know the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It is even more important not to look to the government to provide for needs that are better met by individuals or local institutions. The price for whatever you demand of your government is a piece of your freedom and lots of taxes.

Make all elections at a federal level publicly financed. Eliminate the 'money is free speech' argument. No fundraisers, no lobbyists.

Amend the Constitution that would require Congress to create a separate bill for each 'logical' bill. That is, you can't fund 'monkey wrench research' in a bill that is titled "Defense Spending" This would eliminate the need for a 'line-item' veto.

Remove the Social Security earning cap. People that make over $86k a year don't need a 1% pay raise when Social Security is no longer taken out.

Create a 4th branch of government that held no power and only served to criticize the government. There would be representatives from around the US and they would have to be well educated.
