I agree with legal immigration, but there are some questions/issues with it that I don't know the answer to...

1.) How much can a land support? Will the U.S. eventually turn into a third world country?

2.) More immigrants means more oppurtunity for drug dealers, terrorists, and other criminals...

3.) Immigrants consume a high amount of government resources...

4.) Less-skilled americans are losing jobs to the immigrants...

Any ideas or answers would be appreciated...

Is it because they don't know the definition of the word?

Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights. It seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power (especially of government and religion), the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of all citizens are protected.[2] In modern society, liberals favor a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed.[3]

I found this article earlier tonight.

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CRIMINAL_IMMIGRANTS?SITE=7219&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2007-01-08-08-55-21

Specifically check out the following passage...

"The policy generally does not apply to Mexicans, who are almost immediately returned to Mexico after being stopped by Border Patrol agents."

Are you comfortable with this? I had a terrible personal experience with 2 Mexicans who robbed me where I worked. They were caught within a week but only deported back to Mexico to my disbelief. I had always thought that if you commit a crime here then you pay the time here. Instead, my two robbers were sent back home and probably just came right back. I decided to quit my job where I was robbed. Better safe than sorry. However, we should keep dangerous felons (regardless of race or nationality) locked up here in the US.

I know it's a law and it's punishable if I don't, but i've been raised to be paranoid about these things and friends and family have told me not to register. I checked the selective services site and it says i dont need a social security number, but i was told that is just a play to get me. It also said that not registering could negativly affect my chances of getting a citizenship in the future, so that only confused me more. After hours of reading different F.A.Q.s ive decided to ask the good people here at yahoo. any advice would be extremly helpful. I've been living here in the U.S. for 17 years, and my mother and sisters and older brother are all legal now, so i dont want to do anything that could keep me from becoming legal too. Thank you

The major argument that illegals fill jobs Americans won't do is bullthe corner stone of the argument for amnesty. But look at the Swift raids. The owners knew the raid was coming and before the plants were raided in December they raised the minimum starting wage and increased benefits. (perhaps they knew that this was needed to attract American's to those jobs?) The company claimed it would cost them 40% of its work force if they were raided. It cost no more than 10%. They claimed huge mark ups in meat prices. Prices have stayed steady and the company even made a profit last quarter. The plants will need about four to six months to get back to full capacity and who are taking these jobs that "no American will do"? It seems to be Americans.

Not many people know that the "fetuses" used for stem cells are actually the fertilized eggs infertile couples use to have a child, the doctors make dozens of extras to better increase the odds of getting the woman pregnant. The ones they dont use are thrown away like common garbage. (or more like common biohazard garbage.)

So my question is if it is murder to use stem cells to potentionally save another life, then why is it that doctors are allowed to make dozens of fertilized eggs and throw away the extras?

Its just a freindly debate so please no one get too offended.. I could debate either way and dont have too strong a moral conviction.
