People say we violated his rights by executing him, that execution is wrong. People also say we shouldn't have invaded his country, that the war is illegal.

It sounds like the best way to have respected his rights would be to have let him live, since execution is wrong. And if we shouldn't have invaded his country, we really shouldn't have put him on trial; or toppled his government.

So to make up for it, we really should have freed him and issued an apology, right?

I am an American, and I love my country, and I love the principles that America was founded on. In a lot of ways, we are the greatest country in the world, or at least we have been at times.

But since the election of George W. Bush I have watched this country slide downhill. Although a lot of people run the United States, I blame the president, and his cabinet, for the disastrous mistakes that have been made since 2000. The worst of which was the invasion of Iraq.

Yes, Saddam Hussein was a dictator, and a murderer. But there are a lot of those in the world. Iraq was a sovereign nation which we did not have the right to invade.

And look at the chaos, death and horror that have ensued. I am American, but what has been done in our name sickens me.

What can we, the people of the United States, do to make it right?

Ok so heres the story-

June 2006 - Sat. morning walk to car to get in for work and discover writing in pink lipstick all over the window, a heart drawn with an arrow through and my live in boyfriend of 5 years initials.

Nasty emails off and on throughout the rest of 2006..on myspace and no way to track them.

Dec. 31st/Jan. 1st- tires are slit on my new car so perfectly that they werent flat when i got in it, but blew out dangerously when i drove it. police took note of this and i told them about prior incidents.

Jan 2nd- hear a car door slam at 1:30 in the morning, so i run outside and see nothing, check my backup car (the one with slit tires is in the shop being safety checked), and now there another heart in lipstick all over the window.

Jan 3rd- boyfriend car gets a heart drawn on it in lipstick.

Cant figure out who it is, nobodys seen nothing, no tracks, no nothing. took pictures of everything and police wrote down incident with slashed tires.

What can i do?

I live in Canada and smoking is legal which is a huge problem in my opinion. I understand that there are unimaginable sums of money made from sin taxes, but why should non-smokers be exposed to toxic chemicals from cigarettes (polonium & radium (radioactve!), lead, benzopyrene and nitrosamine). Hasn't the government realized that we all share the same air, and that polluting it makes a toxic environment for everybody? Second hand smoke is nearly as dangerous as first hand and chemicals travel and can cause such deadly diseases as lung cancer, which has a mortality rate of 88% in Canada! I know that if smoking were banned it would become a part of the black market- but isn't it possible that some people will get the picture and finally stop smoking! This is driving me crazy-smoking is addictive, and lots of people who smoke can't kick the habit, but why can't the government do something about. Why should I have to sacrifice my quality of air for tax money made from cigarettes?

Here's my situation - my son is 15, autistic and will never be able to live independently. I am 41 and my wife is 39 - we both work and pay into Social Security. Our income today most likely precludes benefits (we make too much).

When my son is 18 will he be eligible for 'ANY' benefits? At that time, both my wife and I will likely still be working and not receiving social security benefits ourselves for quite some time.

I got a traffic ticket in Texas and called the court house to settle it. When I called, they could not find the ticket. I kept calling for about 2 months and no one could ever find it. I just assumed it was never turned in and so did the clerk I was talking with. We moved to another state about a year later and then all of a sudden, I get a letter in the mail saying that because these tickets were never paid, I had this insane fee and my license had been suspended. My question is, can I get a license in the new state without it being attached to Texas?

Get it straight....nobody is fighting for the USA in IRAQ....people are fighting and dying for the vicious lies of the Bush administration.
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11/01, had no WMD. The USA is an aggressor nation that wants WAR because there is money in it.

Some of the very same companies that made millions during our previous wars are enjoying massive profits on this one.

Our troops are being made fools of by the greedy gangsters in Washington DC. The USA has no business in IRAQ, IRAN or any other country. We will be thrown out of IRAQ as we should be and as we were in Vietnam.

Not one US soldier died for his country in Vietnam or Iraq, they were pawns in a greedy game played out of Washington DC.

Think not...just follow the money...just follow the money.

Congress finally stopped all funding for the VIETNAM WAR...that is the ONLY thing that stopped it. FACT!

Follow the money BOZOS...if ya wanna Rambo into a coffin be my guest.

I have a J1 Visa sticker on my greek Passport. Unfortunatelly it has expired. The tricky part is that I have also Cypriot passport valid (not expired) but without visa sticker on it. Does anyone know if I can use both passports to travel between USA and Canada (enter Canada and return to US). Canada does not need visa either for Greece or Cyprus. When I come back from Canada however can I show the VISA with the expired Greek passport and use the valid Cypriot passport to enter?

The rich & big business get 20 million new customers, 20 million new renters/potential real estate buyers, 20 million cheap workers. We get expensive rent, unaffordable land prices for us & our children & low wages. Even if they up the minimum wage, its a bargain for big business & the rich, because overall, the wages are depressed if amnesty is given to 20 million illegal aliens. Also, our nation then gets more divided, and a nation divided ....

THERE IS NO PROOF! Same goes for Afghanistan.
When will they learn that what we do in Iraq does not help us on a defensive level, and the way things are going it is not even helping us on an offensive level. As we all know, the 109th Congress didn't care at all about defense spending, they only cared about deficit spending for our two detrimental wars.
I will ask again, what proof do they have that there was an attack against the USA which failed since the war began?
The wars are NOT making us safer. The wars are only succeeding in increasing the amount of terrorism worldwide.
And yeah, it's nice that Saddam was killed but what about the ruthless dictators in MANY other middle eastern countries? Or North Korea?
