If you have looked at this decision with a critcal eye, understanding what you are committing to, then you should rely on your confidence in your decision and not what everyone else says.
Just let people know you have given consideration to the idea and have reached a decision you think is in your best interests and goals. I think most people are assuming you have made a rush decision...which I hope it's not. They may not agree with your decision, but friends should accept it.
I wish you well. No matter what, remember the only person you will live with your entire life is yourself. Do what you feel is best for you. It makes looking in the mirror each morning a whole lot easier.

Well at a time like this with most of the military involved in Iraq, and you about to be a female Marine(who are supposedly "the first to go"), yes; on the other hand, I feel your quite brave. I was just as brave over 25 years ago when I went to join up myself(Army Reserves then Air Force). I'm not going to sit here and dog you out, but do keep in mind that Iraq may be inevitable for you when you do go in; Also, folks are going to say something all day long; Of course it's your life, but I ask whenever those church folks start to yakking, tell them you'll appreciate it if they yak to the Almighty in their prayers and that would be better served. I'll pray for you myself young lady. Make the best out of this experience. peace.

I'm sorry, I don't know what a DEP is, but I think you're getting into a bad situation getting into the military right now with Bush as Commander in Chief. My friend's daughter had been serving in the US Navy for 4 years and finishes up next month. She said she'd never recommend getting into the military to anyone at this point in our country. I respect you though, for considering it. Good luck to you, no matter what you decide.

Even before this whole thing with Iraq started there was ALWAYS big opposition to joining the military.
The people you are around (school, church, home sports) they want you to be like them, and they probably wish you weren't leaving. They'll want you to stay home just like they did.
You have to do what is right for you. They don't look at this as a way to "kick start" your future, they just see you leaving them, and thinking of all the bad they see on the TV.

intercourse isn't undesirable. attempt it until now you knock it. Homosexuality isn't a call. Given all the crap they post with from judgmental zealots, you think of anybody might consciously make the choice to be gay? Do you incredibly have confidence somebody might intentionally complicate their existence that way? Abortion isn't a competent element, yet each so often it incredibly is a mandatory evil. If a mom became raped, as an occasion, and would not have the money to strengthen a infant, or maybe pay for the medical costs linked with being pregnant, is it incredibly that undesirable a area in that scenario? What if the being pregnant threatens the existence of the mum? those are the grey factors in this debate. as far as drugs circulate, i'm noticeably helpful they are nevertheless unlawful. "undesirable issues" often grow to be appropriate as society matures and advances. 50 years in the past, a black man or woman relationship a white man or woman became greater arguable than a gay relationship is right this moment, and in maximum states it became unlawful. Do you think of interracial relationship is a "undesirable element?" How approximately women folk working? women folk vote casting? Black human beings having equivalent rights? Freedom of speech? All of those issues have been seen "undesirable issues" with the aid of society at one factor, yet in recent times they are all seen good issues, and we can't think of existence without them.

hey i believe in you, i came back from Parris Island in august, its tough im not going to lie, when you get to the fleet can get hard. Its diffrent for everybody, dont get discouraged when you get into the Island i met plenty of gun ho females that get dropped into FRP , I actually managed to graduate before they even picked up. They get discouraged, also heed the warning of the drill instructors and dont blow them of when your out of bootcamp. Because there are plenty of male marines that are going to wanto to take advantage of you. Its the best feeling becoming a Marine there is no feeling like it belive me.
