What did the old Sarge always say? It was something like " I just want everything to be nice and smooth, don't rock the boat"

The toilet lids, snapping to attention, that was good. Funny movie, I thought.

Regarding the death penalty, I have a question I need answered.

If a person knows what effect will result from their action, and they commit that action, are they not responsible for the result?

Our laws are written down so that we may know what the punishments are if we break them. For example, I know that if I rob a store, I will likely face jail time. I know that if I speed in my car, I will likely get a fine. Also, I know that (in my state at least) if I murder someone I may face the death penalty. If I know that this penalty may result, and yet I still murder someone, do I have to accept the penalty?

I understand that the death penalty is far from perfect. And, it really upsets me that innocent people have been executed.

However, please answer my specific question.

I'm reading the novel All Quiet on the Western Front and there is a young soldier who had enlisted into the German war and his character changed dramatically. I was just curious on what everyone things...mentally,emotionally, and physically...about why the war changes the people there. I'm sure everyone has heard once you leave your never the same when you return or something like that. I know it's an obvious answer but i was just wondering about what everyone thought.

from a yahoo news story:
A Welsh man who was banned from paying a 650-pound (965-euro, 1,263-dollar) court debt in bronze one pence pieces said he will pay up, but using silver five pence pieces instead.
Michael Rees tried to pay the fine and costs for a careless driving conviction -- which he disputes -- with 40-pound-a-month instalments of 4,000 pennies, which is Britain's smallest denomination.
The 41-year-old said he had paid 540 pounds of the debt with wheelbarrow-loads of pennies until the fines office at Pontypridd Magistrates Court in south Wales refused to accept any more.
They cited the 1971 Coinage Act, which says bronze payments of more than 20 pence do not have to be accepted as legal tender.
Unemployed Rees agreed at a court hearing Wednesday to finish paying his debt at five-pounds-a-week in silver five pence pieces.
"It causes them a major problem because I de-bag it all and chuck it in their chute...

Ok I have a big problem. I live in a house that is really bad. I am basically scared everyday whether or not I am going to get the crap beaten out of me. I sleep on the couch because I have no bedroom. And well, alot of other really bad stuff. I am 17. Can I move out of my parents house now? I live in florida. I want to just move out without calling DCF into it or anything. Do any of you know anything about all that? I need parental consent to be emancipated...which I think is kind of pointless considering what the point of the law is. Help anyone?

To give a brief overview: Mom is in TX with physical custody, Dad is in PA w/ partial physical custody. Mature 12 year old daughter wants to move back to PA (where most of the relatives on both sides of the family live) to live with her dad. Mom says no - refuses to even speak to Dad about it - says she made her decision and it's over and done. What are Dad's / daughter's rights? Daughter loves her family in TX, just wants the chance to be with her dad.

If the Father refused to sign the acknowledgment of paternity can he later come back and demand a paternity test so he may get full/partial custody? I dont beleive since he is not on the birth certificate that he does not have legal rights at all. Please dont get me wrong, I dont want to keep my child from his father. I just dont beleive he is mentally stable to be around us and I can support my son on my own. I am not after money, I just want him out of my life. With him it is not about his Son, it is about a fight for control and he is constantly threatning me. I just think he should seek mental help befor trying to be in our lives. He is just a dirty fighting vile man and I want to know how far he can take it if I dont file for child support.

I am a STA-21 OC and I just realized I can graduate early. The problem is that because of the way the designator selection process is set up I would have had to get my paperwork in by 30 Nov 06. I am due to graduate in Dec 07 but I realized I can and want to graduate at the end of this summer. If anyone can provide me guidiance I would appreciate it.
I asked my OIC and he said I should just graduate when I am expected to, but arent we supposed to graduate asap. Im thinking that Ill get commissioned and then get slid in to the next designater selection. I just dont want to fight and be wrong, and get sent directly to Iraq as some non designated floosie ensign. Ive worked hard to get to where I am, and I dont want to get screwed.

I am interested in getting a law passed in Massachusetts which would ban the practice of consumer rebates. Many of us feel they are getting out of control and we do not like having to tie our money up until we receive the rebate of which somtimes we do not get back. There fore the rebate amount should be given at the time of the sale. So the question is how and what would it take to get such a law passed?
