Should abortion be legal or illegal? As an adopted person I can see both sides of the story. I might not be here today if abortion was legal in my country (Ireland). At the same time, I don't think it's reasonable to force a rape victim to carry the child to term against their will - especially if the victim is a child. Opinions would be welcome.

I question this "right"/ The thesis goes that you need guns to protect your from others with guns. Sounds almost like an admission that the root problem is....guns....I would argue then that there should not be such a right. What do you think?

Isn't using tax payers dollars to recover the bodies (living or dead) of those lost hikers just another subsidy for the rich.

Afterall most hikers that have enough money to plan a vacation and have gear are rich ... AND IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE THERE RICH THINK OF HOW REGULAR WORKING PEOPLE LIVE ... The only vacations I have had time or money for was to visit family .... hell I have not even left the state in 10 years. I just don't have the money or the time to have a fancy vacation (like they did).

I live in the country and when I was injured and flown out by careflight I got a $8,000 bill for the use of the helicopter (100% out of pocket) and hospital cost. (even living in the city an ambulance cost anywhere from 250 to 1,000 depending on time which is also 100% out of pocket)

Yet, if the guys get rescued they don't have to pay a dime for the already over $200,000 spent on trying to find them.

I say let them buy an insurance policy ... many of the counties where these hikers

I believe in a secular state with religion not having a bearing on public policy. Do you agree or not? How much influence should religion have on politics - if any?

The War Crimes Act (1996) makes violation of various Hague, Geneva and Nuremburg protocols and treaties a United States federal offense. Who, then, can bring American war criminals to trial in a U.S. court? Please limit your answer to American courts! International tribunals cannot enforce U.S. law and do not have any jurisdiction over U.S. citizens, nor can they impose the death penalty, which is authorized by the War Crimes Act. While U.S. military personnel are subject to the UCMJ, a different federal law that also outlaws war crimes, that law does not apply to civilians. Note that the present Attorney General believes that the War Crimes Act does apply to officials of the U.S. government, but if the Justice Department will not proscecute them, who else can bring charges? If a federal grand jury can bring charges, how can ordinary citizens cause such a grand jury to be empaneled? I repeat, international tribunals are irrelevant to this question; do not bother mentioning them.

Total freedom is found away from society where no one else could have influence in your life. Yet, most people periung freedom would refuse to live in such. In civilized society alot of opur freedom is taken away for our security yet how much is too much. When is the government taking away too much freedom from its citizens?

The Internet seems like a real hotbed of libertrian philosophy. Libertarians have sometimes been described as 'Republicans who want to smoke pot'. ;-) The problem is that, while full of theories and good-sounding ideas, no libertarian form of gov't has ever existed. It really seems like a stable society always need a strong central authority. A power vacuum will always be filled by someone. If there was even 1 town, one city council in the whole country that successfully implemented libertarian ideals into a working gov't system, people might be more open to it. Don't you think *some* kind of track record would be good before you run a candidate for President?

If somebody opposes Bush, some people say they are "Terrorist Sympathizers."

What about this?

BTW - this is the first time in history the Joint Chiefs have publicly opposed their Commander in Chief.

For those Conservatives who are fed up with overspending, liberal values taking over, what is a way we can combat the influx of these positions? How do we regain our party from the likes of Bush, Specter, and others? How do we do so without handing the Democrats control of the government?

Maybe I'm misinformed, but thats how I understood the law...
