No doubt, everything would be different had Germany won the IIWW. But I do believe that English would prevail as the international means of communication. The reason is that the German language is too complicated to meet the needs of the average citizen of this world, while English, being a language with very simple grammar and relatively poor vocabulary, can be spoken more easily. I guess this is also the reason it was established as the official language of the United States after the Europeans finished their job with the natives.

Why are the two mutually exclusive? Naturally we would be speaking English, with German being compulsorily taught in schools.

I think you will find that it was the Russians, not the Americans, who were the major players in defeating the Germans. The Americans were pretty much on their own when it came to defeating Japan (with acknowledgement to the British war in Burma and the Australian contribution).
Oh, by the way. Before the Second World War, the British owned 20% of American industry. After the war, Britain was broke, and the last repayment to the Americans for the materials purchased during the war was made this year in 2006!
So enough of this "saved your ***" nonsense. America was payed, down to the last cent.

Britain fought two-thirds of the war alone. The RAF defeated the Luftwaffe in 1940. The Americans did not enter the war until 1941, after Peal Harbour. In doing so they helped themselves as well. If they hadn't entered the war when they did, they may have been speaking German too.

I would be dead - as a disabled person I would have been sent to a gas chamber (if not killed at birth). The British National Party's Deputy Leader has advocated the same policy to create a "racially pure" Britain!

However, history suggests that the those of you who were not Jews, disabled, Communists (probably including Labour Party supporters) and would therefore not have been murdered, would be speaking English, as Hitler made no attempt to make the countries he occupied abandon their own language.

Russian

Germany might have had a very slight chance of defeating Britain (if Hitler had held his nerve and committed all his resouces and had a decent leader of the luftwaffe), but once Hitler invaded Russia the war was lost.

By now, probably german. I'd think that Hitler would have made german language comulsory.
Since he was such a hate filled wanker, i see no need to think that hard

somethings are better left unknown... like wat if Napolean had never lost, what if China never became a communist state or Stalin never came to power in the USSR?

its better to not focus on what if's... but more on the problems that we have to face today and learn from the mistakes of the past instead of dwelling on them
