The only absolute boundary of freedom lies within each individual. We all have free will and we decide our actions. That may seem like a philisophical answer, but I believe it's true. It does not matter what laws a country enforces, prisons are full of people who acted upon their personal freedom to break the law. Perhaps one day the very politicians who are taking away your 'freedoms' will end up there. Your government acted quickly, in a time of great fear and confusion, to introduce laws that infringe upon the freedom you previously enjoyed. Not only was there little to no outcry from your citizens, you re-elected the same government. It's far too late to get those laws repealed and it's highly unlikely that any future government will change it. The Homeland Security Act has done more than just taken away some of your privacy. It has changed the face of 'democracy', which is what you folks are supposed to be spreading, right?

to me it's most prevalent in our right to exercise our faith everyone is so afraid to offend others, we can't show ourselves. In my humble opinion freedom means that I don't have to say one nation under god, but that doesn't mean I should try to stop others from saying it. When did this get turned around. I think we need to look at the courts more than any other branch.

True personal freedom extends to the point that it does not interfere with any other person's personal freedoms.

i once heard a good line that i think is appropriate here. "your freedom to swing your fist ends where my nose begins." it doesnt quite answer the question, but it is at least thought-provoking.
