What will happen? I was in Iraq or 18 months and we spoke about this from time to time.

First if the Democrats won (and that is still in question with the Democratic Senator having brain surgery) then we will cut and run rambling the Iraqis or not being able to defend their own country...which is true.

Then the benevolent Iranians & Syrians will "invite themselves" into Iraq join in a celebration of Abab Brotherhood.

Finally the entire country will fall into decay as the superior Iranian military will dismantle (read: KILL) the majority of the senior Iraqi miliary and police leaders while the rest escapre to countries they can by their way into. Then the infrastrcuture, hospitals, schools, power plants, water purifacation plants, factories, etc will fall into ruin leaving only the poor Iraqis to fend for themselves under the government in power.

And to SPIRITUAL MAN....I get the impression you have never neen to Iraq or the middle -east and especially in war time. Your fantacy that terrorists are Arabs and Iraqis are Arabs and they will greet each other with open aems for any longer than 10 minutes is just that...a fantasy.

Remember Saddam is an Arab yet the Sunnis, Kurds and Shea hated each other. And maybe you remember when Arab Iraq attacked Arab Kuwait? Oh yeah....they ALL love each other. GET REAL.

There are huge riches at stake: oil. No one group will be willing to let go of the riches, so they will keep fighing on... at the cost of civilian lives. Of course, the West won't want to let go of the riches, either, so I don't think the US will stop meddling. The EU countries may try their hands, too. The French have been playing the Kurdish card for years. Thanks a lot, Mrs Mitterand.

Horrible, isn't it, seeing real people as cards to gain dominance.

The thing is, Iraq is still at the feudal state of development and it requires more than advise to overcome those feudal bonds. Even USA has started playing feudal cards. But the ordinary citizen needs civil rights, freedom and a healthy living, not some lord to command his life. Ask the women under oppression if you have a doubt. Where there are women oppressed, you can bet there are men oppressed, too.

No easy solutions there, pal. Only time will show what happens. Well done, Mister Bush, for sticking your stick in a hornet's nest. Now sit and watch who gets stung.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. I don't want to see anyone die, American or otherwise, but I hope they do win, and teach us (yes I'm an American) a lesson.

There are several factions fighting for control of Iraq. Before we came and ousted Saddam Hussein, there was little chance of civil war, as his rule was total and his punishments merciless. Now there is "freedom" which is sometimes synonymous with "anarchy". What a great service we have provided, bring our system to a nation that never wanted it or us there in the first place.

So to answer your question, if the terrorist(s) win (that's the United States) then no further opposition will exist and Iraq will move toward a democratic society, with freely held elections and a representative government of the people, by the people, for the people...

And pigs will fly.

If the terrorists/insurgents/militia wins in Iraq, it will bring the good Iraqi people to the same standard of living as the people in Afghanistan.

There are good people over here who are trying to get their lives together. Each time they get ahead, the Mahdi Militia or the Al-Qaeda terrorists are ruining it for them. Sunnis are being run out of their homes by Militia and Shiites are being killed and run out by insurgents and Al-Qaeda. Until they we can end support for the insurgents and militia, we are not going to succeed. Success is not going to be achieved, at any rate, in the next two years. This is a 10-15 year mission. The American people need to understand that. Remember that it took nearly 12 years for the US to get itself together and 60 years later, we were killing each other.

the most in all probability element is that u . s . a . will 'pressure' the Musharaf authorities to 'do some thing' - ensuing in a military conflict between the Pakistani military and the Al Qeada/Taliban-sympathetic tribes interior the area. That conflict ought to spill out right into a known Pakistani civil conflict, toppling Musharaf, ensuing in Pakistan's nuclear arsenal falling into the hands of terrorists. Alternately, the U. S. military ought to bypass into Pakistan, maximum in all probability ensuing in the prompt fall of Musharaf, and Pakistan's nuclear guns both being exceeded to terrorist deliberately, or, back, falling into thier hands. the U. S. ought to, for worry of Pakastani nukes falling into the hands of terrorists, launch a pre-emptive strike antagonistic to those forces - a bypass which could turn global opinion even extra antagonistic to the U. S. (if that is a chance) and provides you terrorists or maybe more beneficial incentive to seek nuclear guns (probably any Pakistani nukes that survived, or nukes from Iran, the DPRK, or a number of those 'lacking' soviet nukes) and use them antagonistic to the U. S.. So, that is a lose-lose-lose difficulty. desire whoever's elected President is as a lot because the undertaking...

Are you referring to foreign-backed militiasand/or insurgent groups in Iraq? If these so-called terrorists win, it would provide countries like Iran, Syria with powerful territorial advantage among other things... to threaten neighbouring pro-west countries like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Gulf States, Egypt, Israel - all of whom REJECT fundamentalist Islam - the BIGGEST THREAT to regional/world peace... and human dignity.

Imagine Iraq with nuclear power. Just with that threat they could rule the world.
Of course they might have to drop one on Washington DC just to get attention.

A new star will appear over Baghdad. 100Mt at 5000 ft.
A ten mile crater is nothing to sneeze at.
Maybe the ISLAMIC world will finally get the message that " we ain't foolin' " and the Q'ran will grow a new testament. It surely needs one.
And to all the Muslims out there: quit practicing your TAQAYYAH on us " infidels ". I see through it and I don't like it.
