The Internet seems like a real hotbed of libertrian philosophy. Libertarians have sometimes been described as 'Republicans who want to smoke pot'. ;-) The problem is that, while full of theories and good-sounding ideas, no libertarian form of gov't has ever existed. It really seems like a stable society always need a strong central authority. A power vacuum will always be filled by someone. If there was even 1 town, one city council in the whole country that successfully implemented libertarian ideals into a working gov't system, people might be more open to it. Don't you think *some* kind of track record would be good before you run a candidate for President?

Libertarian ideals are implemented presently and throughout history.

Was there ever a time when voting had never been put into practice?

How about human flight?

e.g.,
"Laissez-faire" economics which seems to have a strong effect on the US economic policy.

Gun rights.

The right to privacy.

In fact, read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarianism

I think you will find > 40 ideals or thoughts that are important to the US system.

Your Q is a bit misleading. It can't have ever worked in practice IF IT'S NEVER BEEN PUT INTO PRACTICE BEFORE.

Centralized authoritarian structures don't allow for that much personal freedom. The current crop of humans, even those in the US, aren't totally ready for the ideological shift from Left-Right to rainbow-shades and multiple parties. People are far too greedy, stupid, and dependent upon this system, and it's far too profitable for the Republocrats/Demicans to throw it all away. What, actually follow the Constitution? Like hell, that'll screw up my bottom line!

no longer probable...whether it could require anyone to handle the realities of private duty & self motivation...there's a surprisingly good phase of the inhabitants that understand the thought. yet there is likewise a area that are constantly have their palms out, waiting for somebody else to preserve them. it could desire to be that a number of those human beings could desire to adapt, yet something could do away with themselves. The argument is surprisingly obvious.

there just arent many people that follow libertarian beliefs. they are (very) basically republicans when it comes to economic issues such as taxes, and democrats when it comes to most social issues, such as free speech and expression.

You make a good point, but they will just call you names because you do not support them.
