One of my favorite lines by Robert Service is "A promise made is a debt unpaid."

If you can name the poem, you can consider yourself awarded a paper star, like in grade-school.

I know it's not even plausible, but think hypotheticly with me here for a sec. If everyone, enlisted, officers, reserves and gurad all went on strike...I don't know for what, say for highier pay or to have our troops pulled from Iraq......what would happen? They can't discharge the entire military. Or even if it was only one branch.

hmmm........

Emigration back in the 1900-1940's..does anyone have an idea of what kinds of questions they might have asked? I'm looking for less obvious stuff (obvious being family, job oppurtunities, how much money they have). A link would help too

My mom and my step dad have declared bankruptcy one or two times in the last 10 years. My older brother now lives with them because his health hasn't been so great for some time. Needless to say their credit isn't so good after filing for bankruptcys. Now I hear the bank has gone to foreclose their home and they say to us, their adult children that they have their lawyer working on it but don't tell us much else. My parents havent made such great choices about their money in the past so we are pretty skeptical. Not only that a majior reason why they are in this finacial hell is because my step dad fell for an internet e-mail scam. I and my brother am trying to help them as much as we can with our own practical smarts but they haven't told us any details so far. From what we gather my parents could be housless come Febuary. What can be done to help them legally and, or what would you do about all this?

New year last year I had drank a lot... too much. I passed out on the floor next to a bunch of friends and the next morning I woke up and a guy I hadn't seen since high school was trying to undo my bra and had his hand down my pants. There was no digital penetration. But he was as close as you can come before that. Is this sexual assault? I just tried to laugh it off as him being extremely drunk still and it just being one of those things that happens.

In George Washington's first State of the Union Address, he warned America against using a bi-partisan system.

As far as I can see, there's no possible way the candidates that we have running every four years are the best people in the country that would want to be president, (if they are, heaven help us). I'm not saying that Independents have been better than Republicans or Democrats, but it's pretty obvious that presidential elections have come down to choosing the lesser of two morons...

So what would logically dispel the bi-partisan system? Obviously it's not two incompetent and inept candidates, 2004 shot that theory down. Is the only visible end a schism in the parties (which is a remote possibility considering the knowledge that if your party divides you lose the election). Would it take an amazing Independent?

Will it end? If so, how and when?

There is a big controversy over music downloading. Some people see peer-to-peer sharing as illegal. I can see why they say that, but i am supposed to be having a debate where i support that music downloading. I am not talking about the ethics behind music downloading, but only the legality. What are some facts or arguments i can make to back up my argument that music downloading and peer-to-peer sharing should be legalized?

I am not keeping up with him, but I am curious as to why so many people seem to adore him. I do know that he has been in the Senate a very short time, and has written a book. Has anyone read it?

In general, what is so appealing about him? I hear is a moderate candidate, but has he done anything? Or is he just a disgruntled idealist trying to appeal to a wide voter base? What are your OPINIONS? That's right, rant or rave away. I just would like to know what people think about him since I've never heard about him that much.

Thanks
