The 1918 senate elections were very close, with Republicans gaining control with a very small minority - 49-47 out of ninety-six possible seats. The Republicans also took control of that house that year, by taking 25 new seats. People were not happy with the Woodrow Wilson and US involvement in WWI. Coincidence? In addition, the nineteen-eighteen mid-term house and senate election was during Wilson's second presidential term. Coincidence? Perhaps the mailer forsaw the situation would be flipped, like Jenney, for our 2006 election occuring under similar circumstances. What do you think?
