did they take all of your fingerprints to cross reference them.

they would have had to also fingerprint every employee that works there to cross reference.

Often because of those stupid CSI shows people get angry if they come out and only take a report, so often they do a dog and pony show to make you feel they are doing something.

Unless there is a video tape of the work area showing someone doing it, no not much of a chance.

as fr chuck said. Because of those dam CSI shows (which BTW when will they die already and never be seen again), people get mad unless police take prints and what not. The reality is prints are not the end all be all of evidence, there are a million ways around them.

I would ask where were the purses when the items were stolen. Not that it is your fault that something was stolen, even if something is left in the open ungaurded, it should not be taken. But my point is most crimes are crimes of oppertunity. If a purse is left at a bar on a table with no one watching, or a bunch of drunks watching it, you can almost be sure someone will take it.
Which BTW, ladies, don't take purses to bars or clubs. all you need is an ID, a credit card, and a minimal amount of cash. I know you may not have pockets but there are other places to hold a small clip like that, or have the man you are with hold it in his pocket. But i digress.......

The problem with prints here is there are few physical surfaces that will allow for a solid print. Partials leave too much room for error. Also if it was someone from your work that took the items, they could just say "it fell and i was picking things up", or something like that to account for the prints on the items.

Unless there is video or witnesses. Nothing will probably happen.

Fingerprints are only good if you have someones prints to match up against them. If there is a suspect in this incident the police will be able to try to match them up. It won't matter if your prints are on the stuff. Fingerprints won't be much use in a matter of internal theft where all suspects had access to the items and could have touched them at some time.
I know here in Canada prints found at the scenes of break and enters are sent to a central computer system where they are matched up against existing prints on file.
