The timing was terrible looking, even if this was worked out before the election results was known!
I like to think of it as "cut and run" because that is EXACTLY the same BS the far right Bush machine has pushed down our collective throat for far too long, and Rummy and Co gave very little or no indication that he was to resign beforehand, which makes calling him a "cut and run" type all the more satisfying as he richly deserves the mocking based solely on the timing and the incessant jeering they gave everyone else who didn't agree with the machine.

Neither Rummy nor Bush made that decision.
He was ousted for two very good reasons that have nothing to do with his incompetence.
It is hoped that he will serve as a scape-goat for all the wrong decisions and lies surrounding Iraq.
It is calculated that his departure will result in a lot of noise from Al Quaida etc.
What has been missed is the little advertised fact that the war in Iraq has been played up as the focus of dissatisfaction with the bush-league, there are a lot of other things at work.

that is playing to the lots. Neither has examined a nuke in years. both recognize that an similar radioactive decay that makes a bomb flow "develop" also motives it to decay to the point that finally it received't flow off. the u . s . and the Russians are purely going to get rid of the former stuff that they experience received't artwork. they'll honestly save those that they experience are nonetheless functional. they could likely do it besides, with none type of contract. that is like taking away rusty previous muzzle loading flintlocks from the 1700s and holding the clean gadget guns. It sounds tremendous to the commonly used public and delivers them bragging factors yet once you extremely get all the way down to it, that is a ho-hum piece of knowledge designed to cause them to look solid. what's next? Bombers? They both have a ton of previous prop interest bombers sitting round. they could disarm by taking away them too.

He and bush are in the wrong business, they really are very funny comedians and would best serve America's interests by making us laugh... They should never have held a position of responsibility that requires a brain.

I do not believe it was his choice. The first order of business in a job is to give the president a letter of resignation that the president may invoke at his choice.

I think it was Bush that was cutting Rumsfeld and making him run. Personally, while I am happy to see him go, I question how much difference it will make. Bush is still the CEO.

He made a great speech at some college that night that was absolutely wonderful.
He is a great man and a much under-respected man.
When the next 9-11 happens you will be saying Rummy was right all along.

In case you hadn't noticed, it was decided before the elections, but not announced.
You really think Bush & crew would have vetted and picked a replacement overnight?
I know you feel the need to find something to say "I told you so" about, but, get a grip!

Exactly! ... and he wants to distance himself as soon as he can... he had to be a little afraid of impeachment charges, or even criminal charges for some of the dirty tricks he played in Gitmo among other places...... he has kind of left Bush to hold the bag... not that I pity Bush, I don't.
