Okay, I get that some people are uncomfortable with homosexuality. They think it's unnatural, or weird, or that God hates it, or they're just scared of it. I have gay family members, so it doesn't seem odd to me, but I understand the aversions.

WHY are they against gay marriage? Even if you hate homosexuality, would it not be better to be gay and married than gay and promiscuous?

Please, no generic answers like "marriage is between a man and a woman." We're talking about gay marriage here, so that's not really an argument. Also, no answers referring to the Bible or other religious text, unless it also contains your own opinion.

I think it would really help some Americans understand why things like 9/11 occur if they only knew what their military and arms sellers were up to.

It seems odd that so many people got surprised by 9/11, yet most of the world knew that something like that was inevitable with the way that the U.S. military provokes violence.

Why should the American public have to suffer from things that their leaders and businessmen do?

his logic seemed to be "if only we had stopped talking to North Korea years earlier, we wouldn't be in this fix!" It was laughable.

Meanwhile, why does no one blame Reagan for Iran? I mean the guy SOLD WEAPONS to the same Islamic fanatics in Tehran who held American diplomats for 444 days. Have we all forgotten Iran-Contra?

Uzebekastan, Tajikastan and in the Caspian region, I was told by locals that they laugh at the soft USA for caring for the rights of those trying to kill us....they claim that our outlook on torture of those trying to kill us and that those here who are obsessed with Human Rights makes us look very stupid

I have a little money, and some credit card debts. I was offered a job, but to take it I would have to buy suits, ties, shirts, etc. I'd also have to buy a car, or at least a monthly commuter pass. This could be a lot of money - more than I have. I would have to spend what I saved, as well as borrow some on my credit cards.

Rather than doing that, shouldn't I just pay my credit cards and stay home? That way I wouldn't run up a deficit like the Republicans did.

YES, this belongs in Politics and Government. YES, I am being sarcastic. YES, I am trying, by a somewhat extreme example, to introduce the idea of INVESTMENT. People who receive tax cuts don't usually hide money under their mattresses. They either spend it or invest it.

What say you? DON'T BE NASTY!!! Try to answer substantively and I'll listen. Thanks.

As I go through the various political questions on this site, (admittedly, the ones by Americans,) I see a trend: Conservatives asking why Liberals are Godless, stupid, immoral, etc., and Liberals asking why Conservatives have such a chip on their shoulder.

Why can't we have differences of opinion that don't end with being called unpatriotic or a terrorist, or having some Bible quote spewed out at us?

What the hell does America hope to gain out of all this? First we say that we wont tolerate a nuclear NK, but now it seems were content to simply make sure they dont sell them?

What exactly are these 'U.S. interests' that we are going after?

Why is it that since George Walker Bush has been in office, have hate crimes against women, little girls, gays, and people of different religions rose to the highest level of all time?

Is this the beginning of civil war, and the Cons are targetting the weaker populations of the U.S.A.?

why racial discrimination is wrong?

I DO believe it's wrong, of course. I agree with Martin Luther King that it is contrary to God's law, as he stated in his Letter from a Birmingham Jail.

I also believe the phrase "under God' in the Pledge of Allegiance, as well as the concept in the Declaration of Independence that all people are equal and have rights given by a higher authority than any government, serve to protect people's rights. To be sure, people THINKING they know what God wants has caused much misery, but people thinking there is no one to answer to at all except for themselves seems a recipe for mischief as well.

So I wanted to throw my question out there, since many people preface their questions on social issues with "without bringing religion into it . . . " I suppose one could say morals are different from religion, but people often say don't bring morals into politics either.

Thanks.

long after the man is dead?

it's become soooo addictive for Republicans, it's harder to shake than an oxycontin addiction!

Will Republicans ever be able to kick the habit and enter a 12 step program that forces them to take responsibility for their economic, social and foreign policy disasters?

I I need your opinion on this question. Is it true that donor Aid to Africa is just another way of manipulating and stealing from these poor people? For years this continent has remained poor yet it is rich with mineral and other natural resouces. Wars are rife with soldiers armed by the western world. what's your comment?
