I I need your opinion on this question. Is it true that donor Aid to Africa is just another way of manipulating and stealing from these poor people? For years this continent has remained poor yet it is rich with mineral and other natural resouces. Wars are rife with soldiers armed by the western world. what's your comment?

Why go so far ? Initially the NGO's that collect the Aid money are the seed of corruption, they generally pocket 98% of the money collected them selves,Remember during 9/11 Red Cross collected a lot of money and will not go out to help and finally was forced to do so.In the last 60 years most of the aid money was meant to keep the Dictators in Power.

Firstly Africa is corrupt-top to bottom including the so called democratic South Africa. Their cure for AIDS is beetroot and garlic as promoted by their Health Minister (she was ridiculed at the Toronto AIDS Conference.) Why? Because a corrupt Government does not want to spend money on dieing people. They would much rather fill their own pockets. As for Wars etc the weapon of choice in Africa is the AK47.Hardly a Western gun and perhaps you should set your sights on Russia,Iran,China etc who have all played a part in the supply of weapons. The South African Government was offered $100 million by a friend of Sir Richard Branson for the purchase of ARV's and they turned it down. The donation went to another African Country. Africa is not only beleaguered by War but also by violent and rampant violent crime. Despots have ruled continuously since the end of colonialism and each and every African Country has gone down the drain. Africans love to blame colonialism and racism for their problems but if the truth be told not one Country has been able to stand on it's own two feet as this is not the African way.Why work when you can beg and get it for free?

YES,YES...
Fact is; The western world new this for ages now, but never interfered.
They use tax money to send id to countries where the people who need it, never get's it.
The should have programs for distribution and control but don't.

Mugabe give the food to his soldiers and followers. The money, he use to buy houses or put it in his bank account.
This is what every other dictator do. Poor countries get murdered and not helped by the western world.

Do you intefere, they will tell you to f --off, because they know what they are doing. What to do? Send or not?
Either way the poor don't get. Maybe stop giving and that will force them to take help. People will die anyway and if we can help to build good relations and politics, the future might look better.

It is true, and the majority of aid organisations are living large off the so called administration cost and six figure salaries. All resources sent into Africa are at risk of being diverted to whoever is ruling the area of delivery. Natural resources don't include oil, so the people are of no interest to the world except for funnelling away donated money and the testing grounds for pharmaceuticals and viruses.

Africa is a vast continent & it is true that the majority of the Ruling parties are corrupt, they all have these brilliant ideas but when it matters things just don`t pan out the way the people had hoped, rather like us here in some respects.

I have to agree to a certain degree with those who say corrupt governments are a big part of the problem. And, remember the rebel movements in West Africa are some of the biggest thieves of those resources (read diamonds), which they use to buy arms.

Also, it is important to note that much of sub-Saharan Africa is unsuitable for the kind of intensive agriculture needed to support the populations there, which are too big ...

which in part is not helped by the anti-birth control policies of the Catholic Church and the U.S. government, which refuse to hand out condoms and thus have helped kill millions who could have been saved from AIDS.

During the Seventies, all aid was a loan that had to be repaid. Thats how those countries got so badly into debt. Entire harvests were taken in place of cash payment.
While the original Band Aid raised money for Ethiopia, the UK imported over 1 1/2 million pounds worth of wheat FROM Ethiopia - for cattle feed.
Something is badly wrong and just blaming corrupt african govts is not good enough.

there are many organizations that help africa. don't be sceptical
or pessimistic about many organizations designed to bring food and aid to these countries. the problem is many times the aid does not reach those in need because of war lords, red tape and greed. the damage done to africa has been devastating and
will take everyones efforts to right the situation

Agreed. the west has provided much armaments to the lawless in Africa, but why? I think its because they know that the people of Africa really do have products to sell in abundance, products that we could use here in England, they could then stand on their own feet and feed and clothe their folk with dignity.

The governments on that continent are so corrupt, most of the money is not even used for what it was intended to be used for. We arm those soldiers to try to defeat the corrupt governments, and establish good ones
