Benjamin Disraeli was the British Prime Minister from 1874-80. He is probably most famous for making the modern Conservative Party (Tories) in Britain, though he was a fairly accomplished author before his political career. He was quite chummy with Queen Victoria and popularized the addition to her title "Empress of India".
