his logic seemed to be "if only we had stopped talking to North Korea years earlier, we wouldn't be in this fix!" It was laughable.

Meanwhile, why does no one blame Reagan for Iran? I mean the guy SOLD WEAPONS to the same Islamic fanatics in Tehran who held American diplomats for 444 days. Have we all forgotten Iran-Contra?

Dr. Alex, obviously your Phd isn't in history. I suggest you try this new fangled thing called "Google" and refresh your memory on the Iran-Contra scandal.

Hint: you can also try searching for "Oliver North"

Because it is republican SOP to blame anything wrong on a previous Democratic administration, whereas they take credit for anything that is right. With this administration, the second part hasn't happened yet as they are still waiting for something to go right.

You crybaby idiot - how about the shape that Jimmy Carter let our defenses get into? We had the weakest military in history by the time his *** was out of office! Iran-Contra wasn't the only time that this country has gotten in way too deep. We armed Iraq because of Iran. We armed Osama Bin Laden because of the USSR. We helped create the Taliban for the same reason. The CIA and the Corp of Engineers dug the tunnels through those mountains where Bin Laden hid for so long. And there were presidents from both parties in the White House during all of it. The plain fact is that gov't agencies like the FBI, the CIA, and other branches that you and I have never even heard of are responsible TO noone, and responsible FOR more than we could ever imagine! With gov't as big as ours is, there are ALWAYS going to be evil M.F.ers that do as they please, because so many are untouchable! You think that your Google search makes you well-informed? That's a laugh, there are things going on in our gov't that we may never find out about in our lifetime.

Actually I wonder why you are anyone else thinks North Korea is the fault of the US at all.

North Korea only has so much money. IF they want to use what they have to build weapons, that is their problem. We made a mistake giving them food. Without food the people would have forced a change in what they were doing. Governments don't change because other governments want them to change. They change because the people for change from within.

Very good point, but it's not considered cool to trash dead presidents, and most of that stuff was done by the CIA, and unknown to the man in the highest office.

Any country, like the US, and others, who sell arms and military machinery to to others for huge money, have dirty hands.

Even now, the US should just ignore North Korea and quit trying to provoke it. The US is trying to stir up more sh*t and cant leave well enough alone. When will the US learn to just mind it's own business?

Let's see -
Clinton gave nuclear technology to N. Korea austensibly to build nuclear power plants. Ten years later - N. Korea has nuclear weapons, but no nuclear power plants. Where are you unclear on logic?

P.S. Several people have suggested further research on Iran-Contra. It is a good suggestion.

I've not forgotten the Iran-Contra fiasco, in which Carter sent one, yes, only one helicopter to save those hostages. The same situation is present in today's world. Here we have a terrible situation in Iraq in which the premises are somewhat questionable, but nevertheless its a situation requiring more troops than are present. We need to show Iraq and the world we're not going to be triffled with, as we have in the past. If they are going to capture and kill our own brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, we should come kill them as well. We need to make the offensive stronger, bomb holy sites, fight during ramadan and the like, to let them realize that their actions will not be overlooked or taken lightly.

Funny thing is, Bush has had six years to do something about North Korea, and all he can do is blame everybody else. He hasn't done squat about this threat. His stupid cowboy diplomacy is a complete failure.

Good point about Iran.

Clinton gave nuclear secrets to China and billions of dollars in aid to N Korea.

Reagan sold weapons to middle-eastern factions to fight the Russians.

Moral of the story: We should learn from this and stop distributing weaponry and secrets. It has only hurt us.
