Yes, I think it had more to do with our dependence on foreign oil and our perceived need to strengthen our presence in the area to secure that oil for the future.

Slightly different than oil profits, but still not exactly what we've been told.

Two reasons:

1. Security for Israel and Saudi Arabia and the other oil producing countries. When the new Iraqi government "asks" us to build permanent military bases in Iraq we will be able to close the ones in Saudi Arabia which the King gets a lot of flack for from his people. The majority of the bad intel came from Mossad and Saudi agents.

2. To kick the economy into gear. A war time economy was needed to jolt the system after the dotcom bust. The war was one of the primary factors in juicing up the economy so the tax cuts could increase investments which has led to this phenomenal economy that we have now.

The oil price thing was irrelevant. Iraq was only producing a limited amount of legal oil to be sold in the Food-for-Oil program. Opening up the Iraqi wells had the potential to decrease the profit margin but flooding the market. The real people who make money in oil, the speculators who invest in oil futures, were not pushing for that to happen. Nor are they happy hat Al-Qaeda is busy fighting US troops instead of trying to take out oil tankers, as they have threatened to do. Oil prices on the commodities market is dropping, especially after this past hurricane season with no hurricanes.

The false flag that oil had anything to do with it was planted so everyone follows the easy path instead of the real one. And it worked.

No, we didn't go to war for oil. We went because there were WMD's and to remove an evil dictator. In case you haven't watched the news, read a newspaper or listened to a military person who's actually been to Iraq....YES, WMD's have been found. No, it's not the large quantity we wanted to find. However, they were there. Unfortunately, Saddam had too much time to hide them and move them across borders. Speaking of Saddam, remember how large the stashes of his money were. the military found buried cash. Cash his people needed. He not only murdered his own people, he starved them as well. The Iraqi people were severely oppressed.

Now, they are rebuilding their country. Kids are actually going to school. Women aren't scared to walk down the street. Men aren't murdered for what they believe in. We import no more oil from Iraq now than we did before the invasion. A mere 5% of our oil comes from Iraq, while 18% comes from Canada and 15% from Mexico. Those are FACTS. What oil Iraq is producing again, is going directly toward rebuilding it's economy. Something it needs to do to become stable again.

So, NO, we didn't invade Iraq for oil. That's only a conspiracy theory people who are afraid of the truth use. It's much easier than admitting they're wrong or facing facts and reality.

There is no doubt that oil is the defining value of the American dollar. But I believe that we went to war in Iraq because we were told they had WMD's, then it was for a regime change, then for a Democracy, now it is for something else. When our military is saying we should pull out. It is time to listen. I am talking about the enlisted men and women. They will fight for their country because they are trained to do just that. And they are trained not to question a command. But when you start hearing these grumblings coming from the bottom of the totem pole. Then moral is at it's lowest. BRING EM HOME!

If our reason was "go in and get the oil" then how come we havent gotten the oil. Are we getting more oil from that region now then we have in the past? The answer is no. Do you know where the U.S. gets most of its oil? Well the majority of it we get from Canada. There are 71 billion barrels of oil waiting to be extracted from the gulf of mexico and another 85 billion off the coast of West Africa. If we were going to do something for oil dont you think Bush knows it would be cheaper to tap into those resources. Have you ever seen the footage of the people in Iraq, the conditions they were living in and the joy they have now?

There were two reasons the U.S. illegally and unconstitutionally invaded another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked this country: 1) The Bush family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein, ever since the days of Desert Storm when Bush, Sr. was highly criticized for not 'finishing the job' and deposing Hussein at that time; 2) Dick Cheney wants all the OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so he and his Exxon-Mobil buddies can get richer and richer and richer.
It's not a matter of the U.S.A. making money off Iraq's OIL - it's the nameless, faceless sub-humans who control our country from behind-the-scenes who wants all those profits. Wealthy elitists, members of the vast U.S. military-industrial complex, oil companies, special interest groups, and big business all want Americans to continue to remain 'hooked' on OIL because of the obscene profitability that still remains in that industry.
Right after World War II, big business realized how profitable war could be. They immediately bought up every politician they could buy, formed special interest groups to promote and encourage war, and hired pricey lobbyists and lawyers to defend the need for a continued American military build-up.
Thus, the U.S. was engaged in the Korean Conflict, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Cold War, Vietnam, and Desert Storm. The military-industrial complex hadn't had a good war since the early 1990's, and it was time to once again enhance their profits - at any cost. So what if a few thousand innocent people were killed in a New York City explosion? So what if 655,000 Iraqis would die in this evil war? So what if almost 3,000 U.S. soldiers would lose their lives, and another 21,000 soldiers would be maimed, disabled or injured? It's the OIL profits that are all important.
PREDICTION: We will go to war with Iran before the spring of 2007 for the very same reason: rich fields of easily accessible OIL;
PREDICTION: We will be in Iraq for decades, until we manage to suck every drop of OIL out of that land and keep it all for the United States market. Why else would the U.S.A. be building the largest embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghadad, overlooking the modest headquarters of the 'new' Iraqi puppet government installed by the Bush administration?
PREDICTION: As much as Bush claims he wants to bring democracy to Iraq, he does nothing about deposing dictators from other countries such as North Korea or the Sudan. Why? Simple answer: those countries have no easily-accessible OIL and so Bush will allow the genocide committed by evil despots to continue unabated. Throughout the rest of his Presidency Bush will ignore those two countries and claim 'diplomatic tactics' as the best way to settle our differences.
PREDICTION: As American demands for OIL increase, Bush might decide he wants more than 5% of our supplies to come from Venezuela. Besides, he's got a 'score to settle' with Hugo Chavez, who made disparaging remarks about Bush during a U.N. speech. Bush could very likely attack Venezeula before his term is over. -RKO-

Family revenge. The door step into Saddams house was a picture of Bush's dad. plus the son thought he was better than the old man and tried to show him up by invading and taking out Saddam now it might be dawning on him why the old man didn't go into Iraq. There was also the real right wing ideologues who think the US is the new roman empire these kook's are know as neocons.

If someone could explain how America made money from Iraq through their oil, then maybe, but I am still on the side that we went to war with Iraq because they were able to make WMD's and were harboring and training terrorists.

If we went to war for the oil, then we sure messed up when we handed over all the oil wells to the Iraqis.
