The D is part of the military's standard operating procedure to prevent the enemy from gaining accurate intelligence. It's also why military operations' titles have nothing to do with what is actually happening.
It has no actual meaning or significance.

to make sparkling for you, a super form of the persons have been incorrect. D-day became merely like H-hour it became the date, yet what date became no longer familiar, or became labeled. D-day as all of us be attentive to it got here approximately on June 6, 1944, however the marines went by many "D-days" using fact the dates they might land on the beaches interior the pacific and face a matching, yet much less publicized delema of having rid of bunkers, and touchdown on beaches and securing a foothold. D-day is almost a codename and nickname mixed meaning an undefined invasion day/ date. The D stands for day.

With typical Military sense, D means Day and H means Hour.
Therefore the D in D-Day means just that....Day.
Its part of the militarys way of ensuring that there is no ambiguity or interpretation.
We always think of D-Day as being the invasion of Normandy in 1944, but the phrase was actually employed as the start of a number of campaigns, including and up to the Gulf Wars.

D- day is a military jargon for when a certain event happens. If you would see something like D-day plus or minus, that would mean before or after D-Day

It stood for day. In planing the invasion they can't be sure of the day for many reasons so they just refere to it as "D". H is often used for the time H = Hour.

I think it stood for Dooms day. I'll look it up though.
Okay. I looked it up and it stands for the letter "D" no meaning. Weird.

It doesn't really stand for anything. It was just a variable that represents an event such as the "T" when they countdown the shuttle launch.
