Likewise child-abuse victims. And I presume the gay community is groaning in disgust that he's now claiming to be one of them, thereby lending ammunition to those wrong-headed thinkers who regard homosexuality the same way they regard pedophiles.

In order to dispel misunderstandings, untruths and down right lies, those of us who want progressive immigration reform run the risk of being labeled "Pro-Illegals" by certain folks who are misinformed. TO BE SURE I AM AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION but WHAT ABOUT REFORM? How can they become legal? Some folks in the U.S. lack the curiosity to find, intelligence to understand and open-mindedness to accept the truth about this complex issue therefore become a roadblock to productive reform. Perhaps it is just easier to have a "black and white" answer in this world of gray, namely a Fence. Meanwhile the "illegals" are floating our Social Security system to the tune of half a trillion dollars and directly contributing over $12 billion a year to SS, federal, and state taxes. And yet because some illegals make money "under-the-table" by collecting aluminum cans and taking odd jobs the myth thrives that illegals do not pay taxes when the truth is that most of them do. Give me you opinions.

I'm not against torturing anybody for fun, profit or information, but the evidence shows intelligence gained through coersion is unreliable. However it is just more fun to poke holes in their (Republicans and Neocons) logic. I support our troops but hate the war.

Yes, I must have reached 40 points when I retire at the age of 67.
How the pension is related to the years you have contributed to SS and the your salary?

Consider it. If conditions developed so rapidly, and war against multiple enemies or nations became emminent, what would our fate be to enter into such a battle that threatens nearly every living thing on our planet? I know there must be a thousand possibilities if it came to war like this.
We have all the usual suspects still out there from the cold war era, and a group of nations actively having summits of "non-alliance", that no doubt involve discussions on a unified effort to someday hurt us. Just look at N. Korea, they are taught to basically not like us. China might not openly say it, but we can be sure they have a battle plan of their own. They have nukes, technology, and vast armies. In a moments notice, we could find we are under some huge attack. That sort of thing.
Our military response against a unified China, Iran, N.Korea, and other south American country(s), would be what?
Who would help if we didnt really start it?
End result if all got out of control?

First let's establish that what Foley did is repulsive and indefensible. Further if the Speaker knew and didn't take action he should also resign.

I see many people posting how bad all Republicans are based on the actions of a few. This rhetoric ranges from the mild to the absolutely outrageous. They believe this will surely swing the mid term election in their favor. Foley has resigned and the Speaker has called for a full investigation of the matter. My question is this. Has this scandal changed your opinion about whether or not you will vote for the Republicans in Novermber? If so why?

I am interested in honest, intelligent answers. This is not an invitation to bash the other side.

Do you know how easy it is to start up the draft? The Selective Service web site says: "A crisis occurs which requires more troops than the volunteer military can supply. Congress passes and the President signs legislation which starts a draft."

Truth= Foley is a sick individual , ex-congressman
Truth= Foley was a republican congressman
Truth= Foley is someone who abused the trust of the republican
party and the people in his florida district.
False= Foley is not all Republicans, like Muslims are not all
Extremists, Democrats are not all drunks(ted kennedys),
but remember Bill Clinton abused the americans trust,
does that mean all democrats did, no, the individual does not impact the many but of course this is a mudslinging campaign and the parties need to fight over this election so anything goes, but where did the democrats and republicans as a wholes morals go...out the window, if there was an investigation in government gaurenteed across the board republican , democrat and liberals have things in there closet......

If it were true that the SS is a "fund" you pay into all your life which is what they say about old timers on golf courses pocketing their $2000 per month government paychecks, why is there a double standard for the thousands of dollars that generation X has already payed into and will continue to pay? Why are we less deserving of money we have 'payed into'. We got totally screwed this century, cost of living and other expenses, and the economy isn't anywhere near as easy as it was for WWII generation and even the boomers when they were first starting out.
Generation X is the first one that HAS to have a diploma to scrape by making any kind of living wage and won't even see retirement benefits that WE have supposedly WORKED for!
Why can't we get what we have earned, why are rich old people who were favored this entire century be more deserving? The future doesn't look as bright for X'ers as it was for everyone else.

Great story about Georgia Tech. liberals losing a suit because they were silencing opposing views.

So much for the liberal claim of upholding the Bill of Rights!
