I think it depends on how many people share in celebrating the day. The consistently popular events begin to get the governments attention. The economy is the biggest factor. Whatever will make people spend the most money regularly, WINS! There is some major holiday every month of the year. The cycle never ends - It's not a coincidence. People are exploited for $$$. (But we're dumb enough to keep shopping anyway)
It's all about money.

I wish I knew because I would write them a letter telling them that 9/11 should be a national holiday!!!!!!! They could do away with presidents day then.. what a useless holiday
