I'm not against torturing anybody for fun, profit or information, but the evidence shows intelligence gained through coersion is unreliable. However it is just more fun to poke holes in their (Republicans and Neocons) logic. I support our troops but hate the war.

Well while you are torturing those cats and dogs from your childhood I will try to answer at least part of your question.

There was only one reason to attack Saddam. To take care of unfinished business. Did you notice that a good part of the Bush administration involve people who were in his fathers administration and went through the gulf war.

At the time President Bush SR decided he had accomplished his goal, to stop the aggression that Saddam had begun, many of these same people thought we should finish the job and find and kill Saddam. They did try that but failed of course.

So along came 9/11 and gave them the perfect reason to go back if they could just justify it. Well, in their own minds, they did and it would have made no difference if any other country on earth were with us it would be done. That was clear long before we attached IRAQ.

Torture, for any reason, is barbaric and soulless. Nothing justifies the use of true painful torture. But there are many ways that this information can be extracted without resulting to that. And what the U.S. uses, albeit wrong, is pretty tame compared to some other countries.

And yes we all should always support our troops no matter where they are sent and how misled.

AAHHH yes, the question of torture.....
Saddam:
Continuing unlawful killings of political opponents. Many groups
have documented Saddam Hussein's ongoing campaign against political
opponents, including killings, tortures, and -- lately -- rape. As
some of you may know, the regime has been using sexual assaults of
women in an effort to intimidate leaders of the Iraqi opposition. We
salute the courage of opposition leaders such as General Najib
al-Salihi for speaking out about this crime. The regime is also
carrying out a systematic campaign of murder and intimidation of
clergy, especially Shi'a clergy. The number of those killed unlawfully
is difficult to estimate but must be well in excess of 10,000 since
Saddam Hussein officially seized power in 1980. The number of victims
of torture no doubt well exceeds the number of those killed.

Saddam Hussein realizes that international discussion of his crimes
against humanity, genocide and war crimes reveals the truth about his
policies towards the Iraqi people for the last 20 years. This is a
regime that maintains its power through crime-whether it be by crimes
against humanity and war crimes, or by killings, torture or the threat
of killings and torture, of Iraqi citizens, and by looting the
property that rightly belongs to the people of Iraq or Iraq's
neighbors.

Ok , then the US;
playing the Red Hot Chili Peppers to loud and turning down the A/C....

Boy, Saddam looks like a big pussycat compared to us!!!

Good question! This administration seems to love the culture of barbaric torture and I can't understand why! Did you know that during the time that Saddam was gassing his people the Bush one administration and the republicans in congress voted against allowing sanctions against Saddam? Yes sir, but now we're talking about how bad he was in gassing his own people! Talk about hypocrisy!!!

It's NOT about a "war on terror" or "fighting for freedoms". It's REALLY all about THIS!... Saddam is merely a pawn being used to cover up what's REALLY going on!...

Torture is going to be used on U.S. citizens when THESE secret and evil plans are implemented after rioting and martial law is carried out by foreign troops already on U.S. soil. Our troops are abroad in order to leave the rest of us defenseless for what is to come!...

In World War 2, Americans were appalled at the torture of prisoners of war in both the Japanese and German prison camps, as well as POW's in Viet Nam. Now we're doing it. I don't know what makes it OK now, but wasn't then.

Bush had to blow the military budget. Otherwise he couldn't get the same amount next year to funnel to his buddies and other various groups that look to bring America back in to the 1950's

The two do not go together. We overthrew Saddam because of who he is and what he did to his people. We interogate to gain intelligence
