That's interesting. Who would help? I suppose Israel would if they could. England and australia might, but i have no idea.
But if we were left on our own...I don't believe for one minute that we, USA, would go out without a fight, and we won't go down quietly or easily. In order to invade the U.S. a nation would need a strong navy, just to cross either the pacific and or the atlantic oceans. They'd have to be financially strong to support such an effort. And their resolve would have to be greater than ours. Which is hard to match. Remember 9/11? remember how this nation, with all our differences within, united so incredibly fast and strong. And that was just for a three attacks, not even a military invasion. I think the citizen would take up arm themselves and fight the invaders...I would and i would dying if i must. Anybody who would attack the U.S. soil wouldn't be fighting just our military, they'd be fighting the whole country.
Besides, we'd know before time if that kind of an attack were coming...well at least i hope.
As far nuclear attacks goes, no one would benefit. And if the U.S. fell out of power, there'd be no one in the world that would pick up our slack. And i pray for all who were left under the rule of either china or russia. We can see how much they regard human life

There is only one thing going for us now to prevent this. Most of the countries you talk about do not have the financial ability to sustain a war against us at this point. But they are getting there. All of these countries are developing and most are where we were about the middle of last century or even beyond.
The world is headed in the wrong direction and we as, what is considered to be the most powerful country in the world, are not trying to head it off. Not only not trying but insuring it.
Instead of being against everyone that doesn't think as we do we should be trying everything we can to unify all countries. Discussion and compromise always is better that confrontation.
If the U.S. administration had another term to serve after this one I fear your scenario would come to pass. Iran has indicated it wants to talk. Are we encouraging that? I don't think so. North Korea is about to being testing nuclear weapons.
First we have to believe them and that it is the right way to go.
Following 9/11 this country had the golden opportunity to unite all countries of the world against a common casue. Terrorism!
What did we do. Attacked one country and bombed it into the stone age. Well that kind of died down a bit so there had to be something more we could do. We couldn't or wouldn’t' find Ben Laden so let's convince the world that Saddam is the real threat. But more countries than not knew better. But common sense and the willingness to talk was not an option so we attacked anyway with the collation of the willing. Hmmmm
The United States should be leading the world to a better place and instead we are not well thought of. And this emboldens our enemy and makes it far more difficult to stop them.
What you have presented here is more than possible and could be what the bible calls Armageddon. For the first time in the worlds history it is possible. Not because the people of all countries want it but because of their leaders.
They lead, we die. Always has been that way and always will.

Your analysis did not take into consideration time frame and the possible changes between now and that time. My trouble spot is Israel and the Arab states, most especially (Iran). Immagine the current level of hostilities continuing for the next twenty years, with the present level of American support for Israel, its snubish international political policy and subsequent succession of office by American presidents that are interlectually aloof of the world political order of mutual respect, free martket economy, cooperation and dialogue. There is the very likelihood that the so-called allies or foes position would shift depending on the needs and interests. There is also the tendency for more nuclear proliferation with the threats coming from America and its allies. Many countries would be forced to acquire the technology in order to protect themselves better. Sadly, nuclear technology has now become an international bargaining currency for both trade and politics. You also forgot to mention Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and other oil rich Arab countries that would be able to acquire nuclear capabilities by then with the help of either America itself (as it did for Saddam), or any other superpower.
With the present political trend in UK, time would come when America would no longer enjoy the unfliching support of the UK government due to increasing pressure from its citizens. The honest truth is that the current American foreign policy needs to be revised with a view to treating other countries with at least some modicom of respect and not to just bully them around.
So my dear its a war that would cost the world a lot. But its also a war that could US everything. US would loose its people, its wealth and even if it ended up victorius ( i dont know the efficacy of the missile shield programme), it would hardly be able to sustain good relation with any country because its past antecedents would hunt her.

I'm afraid we would lose, as we haven't the stomach to do what's needed to win. We can destroy anybody's centers and governments with precision bombardment easily, but to wade through the country killing everything that resists us is, I think, no longer available.
Read the WW II chronicles, like Stephen Ambrose' and you'll see what I mean.
If, as an example, in 1944, if shots were fired at American (or British etc.) soldiers from any direction, that area would be turned to rubble if necessary to silence it. Fill it with orphans and widows, who cares. All resistance would be suppressed, period.
There were no "insurgents" available after we passed through.
The phrase "collateral damage" had no value. We had no problem fire-bomibng Tokyo - killing more than 100,000 people at a time by suffocation or burning. We had no problem bombing Dresden and Hanover, any city really, just to punish the Germans. We had no problem whatever in making war with us too expensive to consider.
Yes, we'd have to bar the media from knowing our plans and abilities. The writers who accompanied the WW II troops knew they were American, and knew they'd die at once for endangering Americans or passing on information. Today's crop thinks they're "above" patriotism. They have become a seperate entity answering to noone but themselves.
Today is a different time, and I think we'll lose by our inability to punish harshly.
Sounds mean, but that is what war requires.

We have never lost a major war - WWI & WWII, Revoluntionary War, & oh hard to say as a Southerner even the Civil War that kept us unified. There is no reason to assume with the best weapons
& the best trained military, we & our allies would not win as usual.
But in WWI & WWII, the media tried to encourage the people at home, I do not see that happening.
No way to know how we would win, since we have used
nuclear weapons then they are not totally out of the question.
We will never be servants to another country, no matter what it takes. I do not believe our allies would be servants, look at the damage they sustained & continued to fight in WWII to keep their freedom.

If we got ganged up on really bad, especially after what I have read about the Chicom plan is war between breaks out, expect it to go this way
8:30 AM Chinese and her allies declare war on USA, hostilities start with multiple attacks world wide.
8:45 AM Massive call up of reserves and NG units, all active units put on alert all Navy ships in port do an emergency sortie to sea.
9:00AM Chinese ICBMs and bombers detected inbound on USA, USA responds with massive launch of all sea based and land based ICBM, all bombers and refuelers etc takeoff for bingo bases and attack.
10:00AM world strangely silent and glowing.

We are the world’s preeminent nuclear power, at the same time we have most of our military resources tied up in the Middle East. If a true threat were to emerge we would have little choice, we would have to resort to nuclear weapons to respond to any serious threats. If Iran, North Korea or any of our foe’s were to start something up, they can expect a return to the stone age.

If we silence the cut and run democrats first, we could win. Also, we would have to ban the newsmedia from being embedded with the troops since they like to give secrets over to the enemy.
